Thanks Angie. I checked the one from Danier and it has a 720 fill power which is better than most but it appears to be sold out.

I ordered the Marmot in purple. It got fabulous reviews. I wanted white but decided it would be dirty too often when I take the bus.

As a generally Southern gal, I'm going hypothermic just reading this.

I think the polar puffer wardrobe would call for a "standing" coat which would need to be warmer and longer than a "brisk walking coat" but with really good 2-way zips and maybe wrist velcros so you could ventilate very easily on the bus, where you could get overheated very quickly.

Thanks, Cheryle. The EB puffer is sold out, but here is the Danier one. I like the look of the moose jaw style best here.

Thanks for posting. I have been looking at parkas in Montreal. It is only 0 degrees and I am cold. What will I do when it is -30? And then there are boots to consider.

Thanks for posting this Cheryle. The geek in me loves the summaries.
I need to research "fill power" power. I think it's related to the feather:down ratio, but I'm not certain. (<- thinking to myself there.)
Oh gosh, waiting for the bus in the windy prairies sounds like a situation for a very very puffy coat

The reprieve from the Canadian winter seems to be over now and some of us who were in denial are shopping for parkas and puffers. I started taking the bus to work on November 1st after our office relocated to an area with poorer access to good parking. The downside is waiting for an unreliable bus home.

Suz's posts on puffers got me looking and I did a bit of research as well. I came across this article which rated a few of the more popular brands and styles and thought it might be of use to others as well.

https://www.reddit.com/r/femal.....er_parkas/

I am considering the Marmot Chelsea.
http://www.moosejaw.com/moosej.....0000001_-1...

If the Danier Sylvia parka was a bit longer, I think I would get one since the fill power is comparable to the Canada Goose.
http://www.danier.com/silvia-p.....rka/d/2922

Eddie Bauer Stadium parka looks similar in style to the Chelsea as well so that is an options.
http://www.eddiebauer.com/prod.....ku_0064074...

For some reason, I am losing the YLF collect so can't add the parkas but have added links to a few.
