Thank you everyone! I had purchased some Geox from Nordies a few days ago and they arrived last night - they look like they might be a front runner (haha) and it's great to hear that they worked well for K.Period. I was in Paris last April and was surprised by weather in the low 70's and I saw that they are having especially warm weather there this year (already in the high 60's!) so I'm going to try to take both a pair of shoes with socks and then a lighter shoe too. I'm definitely going to check out a few of these sandals - even if I don't get to enjoy them abroad this year! Thanks!

We used to live in France. It's far too cold to wear sandals in June - in Paris. And the weather can turn cold over night. Lyon might be okay.

You need really comfy loafers or wear socks with boots.

Oops, not Sofft but Soft Walk. It's a different brand that I had not previously heard of nor tried. Sofft is kind of a mixed bag for me.

I've walked all over Paris in ballet flats, streamline sneakers (that look like ballet flats) and sandals. I have really high arches and felt best when I had plenty of arch support. The sandals went with me through the Louvre (we took the train to get there). I recommend wearing your most comfortable shoes to the Louvre. I think I walked at least 3 or 4 miles just inside the Louvre and I did not see everything. I might have seen 20% and I was there at least 4 hours.

We also walked from my B&B which was one block from the park where the Eiffel Tower is over to the Musee d'Orsay and back. Paris is definitely one of those cities where you don't realize how far or how much you've walked because there's so much to see on the streetscape. I think I only realized how much walking I did when I got back to my room and only wanted to sleep.

Overall, my streamlined sneaks worked the best for me - because they had arch support and I was able to look stylish without whipping out the athletic shoes for cushiony support.

BTW I was there in late July early August.

Oh! Good post and Suzanne, good to know about the Sofft shoes. I've been eyeing a pair of Sofft sandals for when I'm in Paris this July. We're like an epidemic around here! A super awesome epidemic of globe trotting awesomeness. (She says in a Jack Black voice.)

What about something by Geox? They have incredibly comfortable shoes that breathe so that you can wear them without socks. I'm wearing these, but in black as "rainy day" shoes for my trip. http://www.6pm.com/geox-d-leslie-3-beige

I just bought 2 pairs of Soft Walk sandals. (1 from Nordstrom, 1 from eBay) It is already sandal weather here and I was desperate for really comfortable heavy walking sandals. These are amazing. I've been wearing them for 10 hours straight and my feet are very happy even at the end of the day. They are really comfortable even after 3 weeks of heavy wear. I expect they will hold up all summer. I can't see that they have lost any cushioning. So I highly recommend. For my tender feet, these sandals are much more supportive and comfortable than the Born or Clarks.

Here's a shout-out for Naot's 'Paris' sandals. Really good walking sandal for Paris and every cobblestone street in Italy. And I like Dansko sandals too.

Just came from Italy and was wearing these feminine oxfords every day for a week, but in black: http://www.lacanadienneshoes.c.....23025.html I walked miles a day and they were super comfortable. Also I went in Giorgio Armani and one salesperson liked them so much he called his colleague over to check them out! I think that little heel makes them more comfortable than a totally flat shoe. Black patent might not be the thing for summer but the shape and shoe quality were 'perfetto'

I'm headed to Paris in June, and I'm taking these (likely among a few others):

http://www.amazon.com/Clarks-W.....&ie=U

I am traveling to Paris this spring and I'm looking for shoes that will hold up through a LOT of walking. I typically wear flats and Born is a favorite brand of mine, although their spring collection isn't really grabbing me. Paris weather has been atypically warm so I would like to stick to flats or sandals if possible (no socks). What shoes would you recommend?
