Runcarla—great idea! My crepe pants could easily go under a dress. I just cane in from two hours of raspberry picking in our garden. 81 degrees of dry heat. There is no way I would wear a topper today but would come 7 pm.

Jukes—leaning toward rust topper (adds color) as it is light as is the black cardi. The BR jean jacket is not heavy but heavier than the cardi’s. It just adds so much polish to those dresses! Ugh. Decisions

I highly doubt you will need so many long knit toppers. Paris in July is typically hot even in the evenings.

Toban—a scarf could function as a shawl for sure. Thank you.
Christina—I will cut down the pants and toppers. My feeling exactly. Duplication is not such a good idea. Sorry to hear of your husband’s incident. I will be ready with a stern ‘back off’ en francais. Also following the advice of others—no eye contact, business-like demeanor, no tourist giveaways like map reading in public, advice I follow in any big city.

You are right about Paris. One woman grabbed my husband; she was very surprised when he cursed her out in perfect colloquial French. He spent a year in Paris as a kid.

I think you could cut down the number of pants so there is no duplication, and also the number of toppers. A scarf may serve your purposes as a lightweight topper to always carry, even if it’s not what Parisians would be wearing right now. Do you have a kimono?

On warm days you could use a scarf in lieu of a topper. Easy to pack away or even tie to purse strap.

Delurked: the Leith pants -- I wear a Medium and am 5'7". Love the pockets, the luxurious feel of pant next to my skin and a forgiving waist for sitting for long hours on the plane. Debated on leggings but I always feel constricted in them. I want to be ready for chilly and be able to also lose a layer if need be. I also want to get off the plane and not look too casual.

Angie: the shoes are all road-tested. Tried on so many styles that were not keepers. Have long and narrow AA feet, particularly narrow heels so a shoe can fit everywhere else but not in the heels. The Frye might be better in the heel but have a tricky toe at the moment that needs room to breathe. The clothes have all been tried on and worn. I will do another try-on, however, before deciding. The handbag I like for its functionality but not so much its color. But I wanted it not to stick out and call attn to itself. Theft is alive and well. Two of my friends were both approached, aggressively in public, this year in Paris, one losing her purse as it was jerked from her and the other hit her assailant with her purse and didn't lose it. Will attach an image. More tops? I have more in my closet . . . .

Toban: We will be doing museums, cathedrals, browsing the neighborhoods, going to Les Chartres, street markets, cafes, etc. So a lot of walking though we are not immune to taxi's and fortunately my daughter in law knows Paris well as she's lived there and knows the metro system. Good to know about scarves--I will pack fewer for sure. The outerwear has me stymied a bit because I don't want to pack a backpack to carry a topper in and it will be too warm during the day to wear toppers like cardi's all the time. I might be able to roll a cardi in my handbag. Most days we won't be close enough to our flat to return for evening wear. Staying at the edge of the 7th district and 15th.

SarahD8: definitely can leave behind one of those black pants if not two! and maybe one of those dresses too! Thank you. Helpful.

I count 10 bottoms (including dresses as bottoms). For a trip of that length I would probably take half that many. Maybe leave behind one or two of the black pants?

Pretty color scheme — it’s summery but restful.

What are your activities? Layers are good for evening but you probably won’t need them during the day. Scarves are less prevalent in summer, too. It was warm in early June. Love your dresses, which will fit in well. I saw a lot of jeans everywhere. Shoes need to be good for stairs and cobblestones. My crossbody was perfect so I think you’ll like yours if dressy enough. Have it tight against your body and in front (local storekeeper specifically warned me about that).

Are your shoes VERY comfy? And did you TRY ON THE OUTFITS to make sure you like them? Don't rely on what you think will work in your head.

Are you sure you like the look of your Travelpro bag too?

I love a travel capsule!

My first thought is you have a lot of toppers in comparison to the tops you have (says the person who’s always hot). That said, I like the style you show here and I think it looks both casual and put together. Stylish but wearable.

Curious about those Leith pants, sizing and your height.

Care to weigh in? What to trim, what to add? I am open to any and all suggestions. I leave July 23rd for 12-day stay and these are the items I'm considering packing. I will be checking one bag and carrying on a rolling tote bag. I've read on other travel blogs to travel light and buy clothes at your destination but I don't want to feel like I must shop for clothes. I've also read to travel light and make sure your outfits can do double/triple duty. So I know I need to trim down here. I tried to stay with a black or navy base color throughout. Thank you for your time and suggestions. This forum has been immeasurably helpful to me, encouraging, and spot on advice.

Plane Outfit: the Leith pant, the Pranayama Wrap, short sleeved top not shown and cashmere scarf not shown
Shoes: 3 pairs (all of them comfortable)
Dresses: 4 (incl a black swing knee length dress). Dominant background color is either navy or black
Skirt: 1 denim olive skirt
Tops: 4 tops. Dominant colors: navy, blue and one charcoal
Pants: 1 denim ankle, 3 black (the Leith pant for plane; one black ankle length pant not shown), 1 blue/black floral which I adore. I can't take this many so I need to decide what to delete. I have white ankle jeans but for traveling and doing the metro, they are likely to get dirty too fast.
Sweaters/Blazers: 1 denim jacket, which I love, 3 cardi's and 1 wrap for plane (too many cardi's, leaning toward red/rust one for sure and black one)
Scarves: 4
Hats: 1
Handbag: 1 (not shown, black crossbody from Travelpro I like a lot for safe traveling and it fits my body well)
Light Rain jacket (not shown below): 1 plus travel umbrella in orange!
