That may be because it makes the look a bit more 90s to my eye, whereas the heels make it more 80s. I have a sweet spot for the 90s. They all work. I see what you mean about "stumpy," <b>Dee. </b>It's partly photo angle, partly my short legs (!), and partly the contrast because those boots are flat (and high contrast) and the others I am wearing here are heeled (and some are lower contrast), so there's an evident difference. I don't think the outfits in the earlier thread looked "stumpy" and those were all flats as well (except my Blundstones, which have a small heel.)&nbsp;</p> <p>I still don't know how I feel about footwear -- so far my faves remain the red plaid combat boots, but I'm open to outfits with the white boots and also with the navy square toed boots. I think I will like them with the <b>RIGHT</b> sneakers, too. And perhaps also with the pointed boots but I need to experiment a bit more there. And I will take further advice from Jaime.&nbsp;</p> <p><b>Slim cat </b>-- yes -- agreed. With more refined footwear, as per <b>Jaime.&nbsp;</b></p> <p>I have several white or white dominant tops that I could use if I want to wear these with the white boots.&nbsp;</p> <p>I liked <b>Brooklyn'</b>s examples with high neckline, sleeveless tops. I have similar tops, but I would not be super likely to wear with this particular pant because it is a heavier weight cotton -- more for fall/ winter. If I find a linen or cotton-linen blend version of these pants I will absolutely try that suggestion!&nbsp;</p> <p>My "refined" booties are 4 pairs of identical but for colour pointed toe, and one pair of navy square toe. Trying a few versions.&nbsp;</p> <p><b>Note:</b> these are not "complete" styled outfits -- I'm just trying out the proportions and colours of boot, and seeing the overall effect. Which I know makes it difficult to judge. But would love your thoughts on the footwear options in particular.&nbsp;</p> <p>Realistically, this particular pair won't get a lot of use with sandals because of its weight. It might get some wear with sneakers and I don't think either of my current ones are ideal, but that is fine because I'm due for a sneaker update and can look for styles that work. <b>Kyle</b> sent me some great options.&nbsp;</p> </p>
