To me, neither pair of pants are in the right fabrication for you; they seem a bit too crisply masculine. Have you tried softer, drapier pants? (And I would probably say the same thing to lyn*!)

Glad you asked because Angie's answer was very instructive also for myself.
But even if you have some things to alter the outfits have great potential of fabness.

I agree, they need to be longer or shorter. If you shorten the white, you probably also need to taper.

Remember the three troubleshooting questions: length, contrast and heels.

So you're sorted with the heels.

Now address the length and the colour contrast between your pants and shoes. In #1, the contrast is quite high - blue and mink - so I'd adjust the length a little. Shorten or lengthen. If you were wearing shoes the same colour as the pants, the length would be fine.

For #2, the contrast is low from head to toe. The pant lengths work better. If you wore black shoes, your pants would look too short or too long, and you'd want to taper the hems.

I hope that makes sense, Rute. These ankle and cropped pant lengths are really tricky.

The outfit with the white ones looks great to me - try pinning them up a bit. Something about the proportions with the first looks off - maybe lower heels?

I agree, they need to be shorter. Suz is right though, perhaps you could try a wide flowy style.

I think changing the length would be a great idea, Rute. If you shorten (which works for your climate) you'll right away feel closer to being in a skirt!

I also think it's okay to let some things go. If it is not for you, it's not -- and that is okay. You have a very glamorous, feminine style. Maybe pants don't fit into that well.

Another option would be to try a really flowy sort of pant, wider leg, drapey -- sort of 40s movie star pants. Those might feel more "you."

What Ceit said! I think Angie has a rule somewhere about cropped pants being either 1 inch or 3 inches above the ankle?

I have similar issues with pants, rute, so I feel your pain!

I think it is the length in both of them. I would make both pairs shorter!

You look good, I like the blue shoes and the lacy top in 2 looks great with the white.

I have problems with pants, I always did.
YFL helped me to wear jeans (skinnies and wide leg) and I'm loving it now, but I never feel fabulous with pants!
What's wrong with these outfits?
I feel the pair on 1 is too masculine, I tried with oxfords, heels, but something is wrong!
2 is a bit better, but not fab either. Is it the lenght?
