I am chuckling to myself because you have no idea how many complaints I get from ladies who want jcp to bring back more Sag Harbor looks - a good chuckle.

I think the chinos would be fine but with a more modern top. Maybe a light gray short sleeve dolman or black and white. It's the camp shirt, tucked in that is giving me a Sag Harbor vibe. Try the camp shirt with a denim skirt or white jeans - maybe untucked and layered over a tank?

I like the color experimenting and the peach should be fun for a Florida spring.

Wow velvetychocolate, thanks for putting so much effort in to your post! I actually tried the Joe Fresh jeans but the fit just didn't work for me although I can't remember what was off. There was a JCP skinny ankle jean in a REALLY bright orange that was very close fitwise, but the color was just too much.

Oh, and these pants aren't REALLY Sag Harbor, I just thought they had that feel : )

I don't know if this helps at all, but I recently placed an order with JCP after not shopping at JC Penney for years...I was mostly ordering the new Joe Fresh stuff, because I wanted to try it.

In any case, these pants were *amazing* (especially for the price):

http://www.jcpenney.com/dotcom.....8&

They don't come in a coral or peach colour though, so I went looking and found these possibilities:

http://www.jcpenney.com/dotcom.....pId=pp5002

http://www.jcpenney.com/dotcom.....pId=pp5002

Granted, these are jeans and not lightweight chinos, but at least the colour is somewhat close to coral.

In terms of lighter-weight spring/summer pants, there are also these, (not peach/coral, but still come in some fun colours):

http://www.jcpenney.com/dotcom.....ppId=pp500

Just for the record, I'm very happy with my JCP order - mostly all Joe Fresh stuff, and I was pleased to find that even though the styling can sometimes read a bit junior-ish if you're not careful, the cut of these items are very flattering on all kinds of shapes/sizes, imo.

Just throwing this in here in case you wanted to return the Sag Harbor pants and exchange them for something else.

Thanks Rachylou, though too much fabric in the seat/hip is typically not an issue for me : )
@Sarah, I'm pretty sure my MIL had elastic waist pants in this color and mint!
@k can shop, thanks for the closet therapy, I certainly understand what you mean. That camp shirt may stay in the closet, but more as an around the house piece. Then again maybe it should go to the consignment shop with a few other pieces.
@alaskagirl, thanks! I was kind of surprised to see your comment as I had JUST seen your thread about poison eye colors : ) I have to say that pastels aren't necessarily a fave of mine either.
@Deborah, unfrumped asked a similar question that I wish I could actually answer! I wanted a some bottoms that weren't white or denim. I thought the coral would work with navys and also the floral cardigan.
Other than that I am still totally flummoxed as far as wardrobe goals. I suppose figure flattery is at the top of my list followed by comfort and fairly classic/current.

I am finding it difficult to be objective as I don't love chinos. Pil, I think it really depends on what you are going for here. The colour is very attractive and feminine but I too has associations with pastels. The trick for me would be to ensure the toppers are modern. My favourite topper here is 7.

Pil, I love your color combinations! I like 7 and 4/5 the best. Lovely and fresh.

You mentioned you don't feel like you get the front tuck/semi-tuck. I'm front tucking a lot lately. I think what you may be picking up on is that it isn't working as well with #1. It looks fantastic with #7. I think the problem with #1 is the short-sleeved camp shirt. That style is a little dated to me (and believe me, I was a little teary last night as I decided to let my favorite hot pink camp shirt find a new home via the donation pile, so I'm not without understanding!). I would let #1 go because, even though it matches the pants, it doesn't keep the fresh, modern vibe that you need to keep pastel on pastel from feeling too sweet.

I love your other combos and I really like the pants. I'm considering adding a pair of coral shorts to my mix. I wear a lot of the same colors that you do and I think coral looks lovely with them, especially navy and mint. I vote keep!

As far as length, I like the roll in #1 and full length. The slight roll in the other pictures doesn't tickle my fancy in the same way.

I had to laugh at your title!
I think these are a very classic looking pant in a pretty classic spring color so I vote adding that modern element in the outfit when you wear them to keep the look forward. I like the styling in #4 and #7 best :)

Mtgirl, you're thinking along the same lines as Texstyle and Suz! I'm not much of a jewelry wearer, so your idea of an "unsweetened" item would probably work best.

I picked up a gray cotton slubby lightweight sweater today. Not a v neck but I think the neckline works.

I'm also thinking I might try this color khaki at Gap instead.

I really like these pants. I like #7 the best but I am not sure why - maybe it is because it is low contrast between the belt and the shirt?

For me, I would have to add something edgy or unexpected. Plain white v neck tee with a funky necklace, distressed denim jacket, chunky bracelet etc. When I wear my "sweet" Mary Jane shoes I do not like them unless I do one of the things above.

I know nothing about anything but I like them full length

Pil, your python belts sounds like a great idea to try. I notice (for myself) that I have to try and force myself to look for modern interesting details on tops and jackets - if I go too classic (thinking polos or similar cuts) I start feeling frumpy at my age. I still love button downs but try to go for really good fit - I prefer a bit tailored for most - soft wash materials, longer lengths and a semi-tuck (most of the front is tucked for me and I sort of bring the back of the shirt up a bit for a slightly hi/lo look).

I think you could have sized down in the AT blouse but I can't tell for sure where your shoulder line is. It still works and is on trend with the looser silhouettes anyway.

And gray or taupe as Suz mentioned would be a fun color to try with those pants (if you like gray) - maybe a v-neck linen knit light sweater or "vintage" or "slub" type material to keep it fresh? Especially with the python belt and a semi-tuck....

@Texstyle, I didn't take your comment to be at all harsh - rather helpful as usual : ) The snakeskin belt is an excellent idea! I have my python belth that ought to work, and I really like the BT Linen shirt you linked to.

@Cinnamonfern, the petite is worth a try, thanks for the suggestion. I did try the regular. Sometimes I find the rise to be short in a petite, but I don't have any experience with Gap pants to know.

Pil, I guess what I mean by RATE (rough around the edges) is that since the pants are sort of a "sweet" sorbet color, you may want to sort of modernize the look a bit with something not as sweet in a top and belt. And I didn't mean to be harsh in any way, just my matter of fact mood today showing through.

Maybe the soft wash linen/cotton blouse at BR in white and left untucked or semi-tucked with a snake skin, riveted or other belt to help "toughen" it? (I have this blouse in 2 colors and I really like it so far but I haven't washed them yet).
http://bananarepublic.gap.com/.....=410064032

here's an outfit for inspiration shown with white top/pale pink pants (notice the snake print belt?)
http://bananarepublic.gap.com/.....=412059002

or maybe this black/white graphic top and a black belt?
http://bananarepublic.gap.com/.....=411479002

What do you think about something like those?

Sarah just bought those Gap chinos in mint. She has a thread on them. They look really good on her. She got the petite, I believe. But she is a little shorter than you are.

@Echo, thanks! Now that you bring it to my attention, the slight wedge is probably a hole in my shoe wardrobe. Right now I have mostly flats or higher (for me) heels. What don't you like about the top in #6?

@Texstyle, yes the color and style are what make me fear I am veering toward Sag Harbor, though we are heading to Florida so maybe I'll fit right in : ) I had been looking at more saturated colors but there always seems to be an issue with fit. The white is a nice idea. Can you give me an idea of what you were thinking of as far as RATE and were you thinking of a woven or knit? You always have a useful suggestion for me, thanks.

@Unfrumped, I see what you are saying about slouchy in the hips but I have it in my head that that silhouette would not work on my size or shape as I am not very tall (5' 4") and more, shall we say, "plentiful" than many others on the forum. Though I adore the style of pant you describe on others! My goal was to add a pair of summer bottoms to pair with the AT cardigan that weren't white as I already have three white bottoms. I started out looking for mint but was unsuccessful and the coral/peach has been what I seem to find. I did try a pair of the Gap chinos in mint green but didn't care for them on. Maybe I should try a different size - I was in a hurry.

@Suz, thanks for the link to the Pinterest board, So many nice combinations. And I think Sveta's blush pants are kind of what gave me "permission" to head in this direction - though it may not be the right one for me. Hmmm.

@Rachylou, thanks for commenting. Do you see the fit as too tight, too traditional or more like too dated?

You look really good in peach pants. I love ALL of your outfit combos.

I am, tho, not convinced on the fit of the pants.
I think the pants fit well, and if you want this colour then go for it! Sveta has gone for the Gap blush chinos, I think, which are similar...although I do take Tex's point about the colour combos. Here's a Pinterest board of peach pants that might give ideas -- I see them paired mostly with solids, and neutrals -- grey, chambray, white, navy, cream, taupe. This looks more sophisticated, to my eye.

BTW, your semi-tucks are great!

I struggle with comfortable summer pants in terms of trying to give up styles I used to wear, like typical chinos, and trying to focus new purchases on making some kind of style progress--especially in light of what seem to be new silhouettes. These I guess overlap between being dated or frumpy--chino full leg style--vs. what would now constitute relaxed or boyfriend. If I were buying pants now to move my style forward think they should be more tapered in the lower leg/ankle even if slouchy in the hips. I'm not an expert though, which is why I'm interested in some of the feedback here and what you decide to do.

The navy/peach cardi print to me looks fresher with those pants, while the tiny floral shirt in #1 is too meh and kind of LLBean, or catalogs of a certain kind, that show matchy combo of print tops and cardis and pants. And is peachy pants a goal because it's a color you love or a goal of pastel or some other goal? It is harder to style IMO than white or maybe even mint (this year) , or a more saturated color like a coral, teal or brick as mentioned above.

Your experiences here are part of what I'm dealing with in trying to decide on what bottoms and tops to add, so I appreciate your photos and experimenting.

I think the pants fit okay but I'm not sure about the color. I see this color combination pretty often in the condos down in Florida and I'm afraid I relate them to a certain group. Esp. the mix of the pale coral and light blue tones. Personally I'd look for a more saturated color. That said, I think it could be mixed with white or maybe chambray with more of a RATE design and work.

Hmm, I actually like the pants, and I think they fit well. The back view is not a deal-breaker at all, IMO. And I like most of the outfits, with the exception of the top in #6. I am not a fan of that top at all. I am no expert on PPL, so you may want someone else's advice in that regard, but I like that these pants can be comfortably rolled for a summer look and also worn long. They are awfully close to being right, though, if you wore a shoe with even a slight wedge.

I think the pants look terrific. Nice length and can be rolled up, and they fit well over the hips and give a, ah, nice backside :) My only reservation is the wrinkle factor. I think chinos wrinkle a lot, and not in the nice way of linen.

I am hoping someone better on PPL and cuffing chimes in
