The fabric on those pants is DIVINE. I loved it. Fit was off for me too. And onto the next pair, Susie.

Are you close to a Nordstrom store? I would take both pairs in and see what they'd suggest for tailoring. They did wonders on a pair of lafayette pants for me a few years ago - tapering the leg as well as adjusting the waist.

I agree, with the price of these pants, you want them to be perfect.. .and when they are, you'll wear them for years and years.

That is one good looking pair of pants. Too bad about the fit. I hope they can be altered to fit.

Sharan, in this style a petite would be the best solution but they don't have it. Even in the 8, I had too much leg room. They are too pricey to not be perfect. In, general I seem to have better luck with less expensive pants so maybe it's all for the best!

And it leaves room in the budget for more tops and jackets which is what I really need.

What a bummer. Pants are always hard to fit, IMO. I just ordered a pair from Talbot's and am crossing my fingers that they'll fit correctly. I won't know until I get them, though.

That's too bad about the pants. I wonder if there is enough fabric to let out the waist enough in the size 8. Lafayette usually has generous seams. They don't make a petite, do they?

gaylene, part of my fit issue is that I am short. So some of the extra fabric in pants appears to be a length issue- I don't have enough length from hip/thigh to my knee. Taking in the width would still leave extra fabric that bunches. Does that make sense??

If you are keeping the cardigan, why not consider tailoring the size 10 pants if you like the fabric and colour? Altering the pant legs could be a fairly simple fix, and, if you are near a Nordstrom's store, it might not even cost you anything.

I really, really, really like these pants! The ink and black pattern is perfect and the fabric is substantial. They would work with lots of tops, including the Lafayette cardigan. I first ordered the 10 and they were really big. So I ordered the 8 but that didn't work either. They were still too big in the leg and a bit too tight at the waist. So both sizes are going back but I think I am still keeping the cardigan.
