VC I wasn't clear. I find it hard to include the details and write a short, concise post. Thanks for the advice. I'm finding that I do listen to others way too much in the past few years. I'm finding this stay at home with medical issues lifestyle interfears with my style knowledge. I so love fabrics which are not transferable to the lifestyle.

Thanks Steph. I didn't realize how lucky I was in my younger years when I shopped at a boutique that knew my body, pieces in my wardrobe and budget. The picture thing sure is a challenge for all of us. I'm hoping the SA I had at Le Chateau is a regular and wasn't just visiting the store that day.

Ah Krista... I find one of the problems is that our house is very dark and small. I try to do timed shots with the camera but always feel that I lose the light before I get a good pic, It's better in summer of course as we can take them outside but then the sun interfears.

Thanks so much for all your helpful advice ladies, it is much appeciated and I am digesting it all.

Just on the photos piece - I took 76 (76!!!!) pictures of myself this morning before I found 2 that I liked and showed my outfit in a way that I felt was flattering. Part of the challenge was finding a location for the mirror and that had good lighting. So try not to be too hard on yourself about the unflattering photos, it can be a combination of many other things!

Hi Freckles! i have to tell you this whole scenario sounds very very familiar I hate shopping for just this reason, i can shop diligently for hours and come up with nothing - a decent pair of pants is a good haul! as a result, i've come up with all sorts of work arounds, do a lot of alterations and happily i've sewn since i was a teen.

"Dh took pics today and I was horrified when ds walked up behind me and exclaimed...how on earth can you look pregnant in these pictures when you don't look like that at all. You are 2/3rds that size. They make you so wide and pregnant...and the pants don't look like that at all."

whew! This is the exact same reaction i got from my husband when i first started blogging! it took a while but i learned how to take more flattering pictures of myself. Most people look more or less like they do irl in pics, some look a lot better, and some of us look noticeably worse. Lucky us!

Just wanted to chime in and say hang in there! Keep at it and pay a lot of attention to what works so you can build on that. You'll get where you want to be, i promise, as long as you keep heading in that direction :)

Have fun with your new pants! steph

I edited my post - because I think I misunderstood the situation and thought that you liked the new top but sent it back because of comments from others. If you weren't sure about it, then back it goes :)

Enjoy the new fab pants!

Yes Claire you're right...new tops needed. They do go with my red, white and black flowered blouse though so that is a plus. I'm just hoping they can become my every day pants. I think I need to let them settle a bit and also see how they fare with the weather.

Krista I'm thinking of asking a friend to take some pics. The pants look so much baggier in the pics that I'm not sure it would be helpful to post them.

I appreciate the wise advice velvetychocolate. In the store I wasn't convinced on the top and even less so when I got it home. I was looking for something that glided over the under arm to under bust that flared out with an asymetrical hemn.I actually bought the opposite, with an asymetrical hemn. The crepe de chine fabric and dh's love for it swayed me when they shouldn't have. The pants are super comfy though and really do suit me better than any jeans would have. I think they're a good mix of what I really do love and what I was looking for, only not jeans which have never been a front runner in my wardrobe anyway.

Next week my Aunt is coming to town for a visit and I'm pretty sure I'll be wearing my red, white and black flowered blouse and the new pants.

I think the pants you've picked out are very fab! Not too skinny, and not too loose either. In the meantime though, I have to ask - is there a chance that your DH (and you) know better than DS in terms of what looks really good on you?

Don't give up on trying something new just because DS says it's not quite right - because, there's a chance he might be wrong about that.

I'm willing to bet that the top you tried and the skinny-ish ponte pants were *fab*. Just a bit 'new' for you and outside of your usual norm, hence the weird reaction from DS.

Just some food for thought.

Those are beautiful slim dress pants, so you're right, hooray! You might be able to wear them into the fall a bit. Maybe you just need to buy some tops to go with them?

Returned the Gap straight leg jeans and pondered about the ponte leggings. Comfortable as all get out but the jeans waistband/rise was not and they kept falling down so nothing there. Finally got an outfit at Le Chateau, thank you Sveta.

The top is going back unfortunately. Even though it is a lovely asymmetrical hemn that Deborah has made me love ds said no way. Too 80’s, not in a good way and not flattering. Of course dh loves it but our taste in things is very different.

My SA at Le Chateau was the district manager so no wonder she knew her stuff, the stock and how they all fit. We tried on everything. No jeans bought though. Got a pair of black slim dress pants in a gabardine stretch fabric that should go from casual to dressy in a flash. The SA preferred the ponte leggings but they were a bit too much of an extreme change for me. The compression on the legs was not something I was comfortable with.

Unfortunately I think the pants are better for fall than summer or winter, we will see. With the expected return of the top I have maybe two summer tops for these and they are the going out ones. I have also a going out winter wool cardigan that I can wear as a top. On the other hand a ton of my NHL gear goes beautifully with them...maybe they’ll be warm enough for winter but I’m pretty sure they won’t.

http://www.lechateau.com/style.....olor=Black

Dh took pics today and I was horrified when ds walked up behind me and exclaimed...how on earth can you look pregnant in these pictures when you don't look like that at all. You are 2/3rds that size. They make you so wide and pregnant...and the pants don't look like that at all. So no pics as apparently a K/R with pics is not valid.

I will need help with ppl but that is for another day.

P.S. I needed black dress pants anyway hooray
