And excellent and thought-provoking blog post - thank you for sharing it with us!

Funny, I've been slowly working my way around to the idea of "less is more." I find that when there is less 'stuff' in my closet, I am a lot more creative than I would be otherwise. Who would have thought this would be the case? Not me. But it's true. It isn't how much you have, but rather - what you do with what you have.

@dstalksalot,
Congratulations on your weight loss!! Such an achievement is always fun to reward with new decoration/accessories I like the point you make about having more specifics in your wardrobe. I've discovered what styles/cuts look best on me and what I like but perhaps just on other body types. same goes for colors, textures, etc..

I suppose this also comes with age for the most of us, knowing what works, what is a better expression of who we are, etc...

I have started over with my wardrobe due to weight loss. Everything from underwear and PJ's to dresses.....it is very very liberating. I am to the point where I am very very specific with my wardrobe especially after being stuck shopping at Lane Bryant for years. I want to love every piece. I don't have a seasonal wardrobe or a lot to choose from but I am enjoying its sparseness and finding my style.

Bionda, thank you so much for sharing. It comforts me to know some of my bizarre behavior I've observed recently isn't unique to me. It truly is amazing how liberating lighting the load of stuff can be. I get ready in a flash these days and I'm feeling better about how I'm dressed and present myself to the world (I know, a tad dramatic but I didn't erase that line cause it's really true). I'm wearing all my jewelry, accessorizing everything nicely- just very proud of the progress I've made this fall :)
Thanks again for commenting and I do hope you follow the blog and continue to share your thoughts.

Hi Natasha, nice to see you again! I love your blog, and as I read it my head is constantly nodding and I'm thinking "me too, me too". I often get the hubby query "is that new?" of something I've had forever, but worn so infrequently he's forgotten it. Heck, even I've forgotten it. I'm also trying to lighten my load, and I've purged and gotten my winter wardrobe pretty well organized and accessible. But I know I still have much too much for peace of mind. The older I get the more overwhelmed I am by "stuff" so I need to bite the bullet and purge some more. While I'm not on a shopping ban (yet) I'm being much more thoughtful about what I buy, and from now on it's going to have to be 1 in/1 out...or maybe 1 in/3 or 4 out. : )

Wishing you continued success!!!

Yep - too much can be paralyzing. The trick (for me) is finding out what is just enough. Kinda like Goldilocks - this closet is much too big, oh this one is much too small. Lol. I could never be one of those types who wears one dress a different way for 30 days straight. I'd shoot myself.
Been enjoying your blog!

Rachylou- Thank you for having a read and I really appreciate your comments and thoughts. You make an excellent point regarding the variety of clothing in the overflowing wardrobe. Something I've been writing up since the big clean sweep. I also had doubles or even triples of certain items.

Lisa- I just signed up to your blog. Great writing!

Neat blog, if blogs were grouped into categories I think your blog and minewould be in the same group! How fun!

I have also had the problem of being accused by hubby of purchasing new clothes (and I've also fibbed about it before too.:)

Nice post! I really enjoy thinking about the mind, if that's not some sort of oxymoron. It's true about choice and attention blindness. There have been studies that show people are happiest, most satisfied having chosen - i.e., having eliminated all their choices.

I wonder a little about a certain kind of preppy. The kind that's very into art - will major in it - but doesn't collect it. I wonder if that's a kind of paralysis brought on by the knowledge that there's so much out there.

But perhaps I digress... on the other hand, this kind of preppy also will show similar symptoms in their wardrobe. The clothing will be fine, but also... unimaginative, if I may be permitted to say so...
