Thanks, Jenni, cat2 and Sal, for the medical recommendation. I have been to a podiatrist in the past. This is one of those things that you think something is going to get better, and it gets a little better, but not completely. Might be time for an appointment!

+3 to the podiatrist, no need to suffer! Both my husband and I had unexpected foot changes and it helped to understand what was happening.

Yes I agree re the podiatrist - that’s where I got my custom orthotics from as well as some shockwave treatment. And strapping.

Just chiming in as a health professional here: have you seen a podiatrist about it? I’m not one but I send people to them all the time, they know so much about feet!

Thank you April and Sal for the information. I found the articles you linked to informative, Sal. I may have a similar problem to yours, on the outer ankle instead of the inside. And the shoes on Orthofeet looked helpful if I need more casual shoes. So far, I have found ways to deal with the problem for casual wear, but dress wear is posing new issues. I appreciate both of you taking the time to answer. I hate having foot issues--as an extremely active person, it is really cramping my life! Pun intended!:)

SW Ann - you might look at shoes from Orthofeet. I know, I know, the brand name does not scream stylish.

Each pair, however, comes with several insole modifiers that can be inserted or not, depending on your foot issues.

Word to the wise, if you try these, they run rather wide.

Feet issues are annoying.

My issue might be different but it could be the same.

My left ankle/foot was rubbing and getting sore on the inside. It was happening with sneakers and practical shoes. I also was getting a very sore calf. It is arthritis of my navicular (90%) with a lump there, and the restricted mobility is causing Posterior Tibial tendonitis - they both feed off each other. It has been improved by orthotics in my walking shoes, managing my walking eg off road or mixing up with cycling, swimming, gym etc..., some strapping and some icing.

https://www.verywellhealth.com.....ial%20tend.

https://www.healthline.com/hea.....-arthritis

I have not had an xray or scan to confirm this - the treatment is the same either way. I am much much better now than I was - I suspect I may need to revaluate a couple of pairs of shoes - it's not always the ones you would think either.

A new problem as emerged for me, and I know the collective mind of YLF as many of you with fussy feet. My right ankle bone keeps getting rubbed by various pairs of shoes. It does not cause blisters. It causes pain, mostly to the front of the ankle bone. I never had this problem until the last year or so, and if it is a shoe that I can't wear a thick sock with --dress shoes; sandals--I am having a hard time being comfortable. Any ideas? Thanks so much for your help!
