@3style - I wore my boots for the hike to Arthur’s Seat and glad I did so. I had ordered my 6.5 in wides but had a thinner socks on and wished I had thicker socks on. It seemed the wides were a bit wider than normal because my feet would slide down when going downhill but I guess it would be great in the winter time. Hope this helps.

Citygirldc, will you please do a product review of the Columbia hiking boots after you test them out and get back home?

I haven’t begun my search for a new pair yet. My old Keen boots and Ahnu hiking sneakers are pinching my toes. I need to start looking, ASAP because I live in tick country.

I didn’t even know Columbia made shoes. Been very happy with their fleece and puffer jackets.

Apparently the high 60s temps are Edinburgh’s big heat wave and the locals are complaining how warm it is. By the way it’s been sunny every day and gorgeous. I have rain jacket, long sleeves, and jumpers available so no problems. I can’t justify buying a leathers jacket but maybe some cashmere...

We were in Scotland June 9-19 and caught a tropical storm. It rained hard every day (when it wasn't raining, it was gorgeous, though) and it was often cold and windy. So yes, a raincoat and waterproof boots are a must. Have a great trip.

Oh goodness, you'll be here by now! Remember to let us know what was useful and what wasn't. I wouldn't worry about hiking boots for Arthur's Seat. There's a road almost all the way to the top. It's not a hike hike but there are great views once you get up there. Have an amazing time and feel free to PM me if you need any local advice for Edinburgh. I'm not too far away and work in town.

Honestly...it's a bit much. Are you going to have access to laundry washing? If so, I'd reduce the load.

I was in London this month (June) and when I was there, it was 50s/60s-- the temps had been forecast to be upper 70s for us. So while they are having a heat wave-- that could change. Quickly. Same thing for Amsterdam and Germany-- it was MUCH colder than originally planned and I was thankful for my jacket.

I had 5 tops and 4 bottoms and, honestly, I felt it was still too much for me. But, again, if you do not have access to laundry, it is what it is.

Have a fun trip!

It doesn't look like too much. I suggest:
● A pair of sandals, perhaps substituting either the sneakers or the oxfords
● A couple of scarves and a few pieces of jewellery (may be simple, fun, casual and inexpensive) to spice things up a little
● Comfortable socks
● An umbrella
● Sunglasses

I love the cute retro look (and the gorgeous colour) of your hiking shoes. They remind me of my cross-country ski boots in the 1970s and 1980s.

LAURA1975- We fly into London tonight and land tomorrow morning, stay one night, then take the train to Edinburgh for 5!days. Your heatwave is supposed to die down next week so the weather app tells me. 5 days in Scotland, then back to London for the Cure concert at Hyde Park (my comfy oxfords will be used). Leave Monday, July9.

I need shoes to walk around in so I like to have options. Hiking shoes will be used in Scotland for touring highlands and Arthur’s seat.

Suz - 4!bottoms. See photo.

Jane - Scarves will be taken too.

Looks good to me! I am wondering if an open sandal might be helpful. That said I think you could pick some up cheaply whilst away if needed. I think may be a scarf or two but really it looks perfect. Nice boots for walking. Good choice.

How many days? Agree with Laura1975. I assume you will be doing some hiking? Otherwise sneakers should be sufficient for long days on your feet. I agree about bringing sandals. During a month long vacay in England, Scotland, and Wales in July/August I mostly wore a pair of Merell sandals, followed by sneakers similar to those you posted.

How long are you going for Citygirl? We're having a heatwave I think the shoes look too heavy for the current temps. Maybe some sandals, the hiking boots and one pair of closed toes? I don't think you'll need those jumpers/ sweaters. Maybe a cardigan or two for colder nights?

How long will you be there? I personally think 4 pair of shoes is a lot, I usually limit myself to 2 for travel abroad. Maybe ditch the flats or the oxfords? One of those pairs would probably meet the need for occasions requiring a non-athletic shoe, may not need both. Clothes selection seems spot on.
