Suz, thank you --- that DOES help! It means I had better NOT bring T-shirts and cargo pants (or equivalent).

Angie --- I've been dreaming of egg-custard tarts ever since I got the invitation! :-p And ah! THANK you for the casino tip, seeing as I'll be staying at just such a venue... This capsule is getting dressier by the minute!

Rae --- I have my fingers crossed I'll actually get to see a bit of Macau, as opposed to just the site/property we're to visit. The downside of too many junkets is that you DON'T get to be a tourist, only pretend you are one I have yet to get over the disappointment of crossing Athens twice with NO time spent there apart from the wait at the airport.

Unfortunately I am no help, but I want to wish you a happy trip! Macau sounds so fun from what I've seen - please tell us all about it afterward!

We loved Macau! They have the BEST Portuguese food so be sure not to miss out :)

I found Macau less dressy than HK. But then it's probably very dressy at all the casinos. Your beautiful formal Indian outfits sound perfect.

I hope you get some replies, maybe from our Aussie friends! I am not knowledgeable about Macau weather patterns. But when travelling in China I met some tourists from Macau and they were "dressy" for tourists, it seemed to me.

Advise, please, if you can?

I expect to be in Macau on a junket for 3-4 days near the end of March. I don't need to be wearing business formals; one (or at best two) business casual outfits and the rest relatively 'touristy' will suffice.

What do I need to pack weatherwise though? It seems to be a between-seasons time, so can anyone tell me what I should expect --- cold-dry, cold-wet, stormy, warm-to-cool...?

Specific questions:
(1) Do I need an anorak (mine is unlined, but 'gear' standard for hiking and light mountaineering) or my woollen winter coat? (My jackets are quilted silk or cotton, not high-tech materials.)
(2) I don't need my thermals, I trust, and normal cotton layers will suffice? (keeping in my mind that my current 'spring' temperatures are 33 degrees Celsius, aka 91.5 degrees Fahrenheit at 5pm)
(3) I've been to Hong Kong and mainland China (Shanghai and suburbs); is Macau as dressy/fashionable/cosmopolitan or less so? I'm wondering about the advisability of packing an Indian ethnic outfit for evening events, as I don't own an evening gown and my cocktail dresses are currently MIA. Or would dressy separates be a better bet?

Thank you so much for your help, ladies!
