Tagging on Adela's comment: Take a look at your list and make sure you have clothes for rainy weather. Hopefully this won't be an issue--the Uggs might be waterproof(ed)? Or the sneakers might work? Something to think about...(but best wishes for sunny skies).

Maybe it would be good to consider another pair of boots besides Uggies? Venice can be wet and cold at this time of year... And, have a great time!

I think that's a good swap. I prefer being a bit too warm to freezing, personally. Poncho looks great too!

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I ended up swapping out one of the microfiber tees for a think black merino sweater. Added the poncho, seen here.

This sounds like a great travel capsule, gradfashionista, with plenty of mix-and-match opportunities. I've nothing to add really, but like some of the others, I was going to suggest bringing some kind of topper to wear over your tops and blouses. And a smaller bag might indeed come in handy for museum visits.

Have a fantastic trip! (and do report back pretty please?-)

I echo Joy and I like the idea of a poncho. I find denim too cold for the temps you mention, and it will s more casual and less dressy for evening dinners, but that is just me.

Have a great trip!

I agree with Astrid that you should bring a small cross body or similar bag. I always travel w/my big longchamp and a smaller nylon cross body inside it. I don't want to lug around the big bag with all my stuff while walking around all day, and never have a problem with the cross body at museums and such. (Plus I had a longchamp stolen while I was sightseeing in Athens a couple of years ago so now I almost always prefer to sightsee with a smaller bag that I can keep strapped to my body at all times.)

My husband brings his timbuk2 often, and I think it's around 50-50 whether they make him check it. Also, most museums in Europe have security screening for bags, so a smaller bag with less stuff is easier there too.

The wardrobe sounds good to me. I think I might add a pullover or cardigan that could function as an extra layer if it's chilly or windy, or a topper if it's warmer. (Or a knit blazer/indoor jacket that fits under your coat). I don't think you need an extra coat.

Well, the denim jacket I purchased on eBay a month ago is supposed to be delivered today. If I have any luck in intercepting it, I'll definitely bring it along. Otherwise, I have a poncho that I could bring along.

Have a wonderful time. Maybe your travel wrap can double as a topper for warmer weather, if needed. You could always "need" to buy a leather jacket in Florence or scarves for variety. Even street vendors sell both. Just be sure that your shoes are good for lots of walking.

Here in central Italy the weather is supposed to be nice during the next 10 days (17°C high), but Venice and Florence are definitely colder.
I too suggest some toppers other than coats, a coat could be too warm in Rome but a tee not enough. And keep in mind that in some restaurants a long sleeve tee could not be enough (yesterday I had to wear a cashmere cardi over my dress)

It sounds like a pretty good selection to take. I do see Elizabeth's point about a topper though. Might be worth considering.

Like Style Fan, I like to pack a fair bit more when I travel, but as you say you don't mind washing a few pieces and your colour palette is fairly minimal, so it will work well for you.

Without seeing the pieces and possible combinations this sounds like a good amount. I will be packing for seven days in Rome next month and my goal is going as light as possible. We'll see. In my experience from visiting Venice and Florence (and other European museums in general) the museum might be a problem with a computer messenger bag. I'm not sure about the handbag. They usually only allow smallish bags carried in front. A small crossbody bag you can turn around so you have it in front of you is the easiest solution. I'll probably carry a backpack in Rome with a small bag with my most important valuables inside that I an just take out when I have to leave the backpack in a locker. Maybe you can also carry a clutch in your Longchamp/messenger for that purpose, just in case?

I am the Queen of heavy packing so I have zero advice on packing light. I do wonder about whether you might want a topper which is what Elizabeth P suggested. I am assuming you wear a lot of leather and this is your style.
Have a great trip.

My first reaction is that you might want to consider some toppers. A silk blouse or 3/4 sleeve tee alone may not be enough if you don't want to be wearing your coat. Think evening restaurant, or warmish day.

Do you have anything suitable for wet weather?

Sounds like an amazing trip! Have fun.

Definitely warm enough. I've never warm tights under pants, even in -30C weather. I packed a pair of cotton tights, and a pair of merino-blend tights for the skirt, but i could always wear them under the pants if necessary.

The wardrobe is pretty black, but I'm not worried too much about variety. It's easiest to mix-and-match, they're easy to wash and the blouses are very breathable for fluctuating temperatures.

The microfiber tops are standalone.

Does not seem like too much. I am packing for a 10 day cruise and have sooooo much more. See forthcoming thread...

So it looks like you have three leather bottoms. Are they warm enough? Florence and Venice might be chilly, can you add some light but warm long underwear or tight things to layer under the leather pieces for warmth. Rome is warmer but Florence and Venice have more of a continental climate.

I noticed you have two fitted microfiber tops and three silk blouses. The two black blouses seem quite similar, given that you are packing very little do you think you will crave a bit of variety with another color or is this not how you tick.

Are the microfiber tops standalone or are they layering tops?

Sorry I have no idea what to say about the bags and museums etc. I would go with the most hands-free option, given that you will be lugging stuff around for 10 days.

The long-delayed honeymoon to Italy has arrived! Twelve days including traveling, ten nights: four nights in Rome, four nights in Florence, one night in Venice, and the last night TBD. I strive to be a light packer, especially in instances where I won't be seeing familiar faces. While I hate lugging and maneuvering suitcases, I'll be bringing a small wheeled carry-on, and either my Timbukt2 laptop messenger bag or my large dropped-shoulder Longchamp.

In addition to the usual suspects plus electronics (laptop, camera, Kindle, phone), I've packed the following:

Wearing on plane:
Cocoon winter coat (not down, good for the 0-10C range)
Cashmere travel wrap
Theory navy leather trousers
My Adea navy fitted 3/4 sleeve microfiber top
Ugg suede Chelseas

Packed:
Taos gold studded sneakers
Tieks black leather flats
Theory black leather pants
Kookai black leather knee-length A-line skirt
Everlane black collarless silk blouse
Equipment black collared silk blouse
My Adea black fitted 3/4 sleeve microfiber top
Equipment black flower print short-sleeve blouse
Wolford blush fitted 1/2 sleeve microfiber top

Gym shoes
Gym pants
Gym top
Gym bra
Merino wool zip-up

Questions:
a) Does this seem too much? I am planning on washing when necessary.
b) Will I need to check my Timbukt2 commuter bag at museums? It's smaller than my large Longchamp, but museums seem more accommodating of large "purses." The messenger bag is more functional for carrying electronics, and leaves my hands free, while the Longchamp is more stylish.

Other comments welcome.
