I would advise against the dress and sandals. It cools down at night.

This sounds like San Francisco weather, but might feel cooler due to less sunshine than in California. I will do booties and slip ons when I'm there, but not sandals. I get plenty of time to wear sandals in my semi-desert climate, so am happy to leave them home.

So for me I will go bare-legged down to the low 40s F. That's because we are currently into fall transition where temps might be below freezing in the morning and 65 by afternoon. I do put off winterizing my outfits for as long as possible, and I am surprisingly acclimated to the cold.

HOWEVER, my feet routinely freeze so I never wear open toed shoes here. The President was here for three days and my co-workers and I spent loads of time standing around waiting for the motorcade to pass back and forth. My feet would get so chilled in flats!

Thanks everyone. I will leave the sandals and dress at home. I don't have any dress/skirt appropriate closed toed shoes comfortable enough to justify taking except for knee high boots and those would be too much trouble, I think.

It looks like that's about the temps Oklahoma (I looked up Tulsa) gets in March/April, on average. Do you know/remember how you dress in March?

At that temperature, wind and sun can make a big difference, but one's personal climate may matter even more.

If you rarely get wheather like that - skip the sandals!!! You little toesies will be frozen, unless you want to wear the dreaded sandal-sock combo!

Try asking on other forum and things, lool on instagram, see what people who are already living or holiday-ing their are wearing. A temperature of 20*c could mean a singlet shirt and shorts on a calm day or winter woolies on a windy day. Scarves are great for a light pack as well. Wear any thick items on the plane eg winter jackets, jeans, I'd bring some booties and leggings as has been suggested (it IS autumn!)

If the temp only tops out at 70 in the "heat" of the day, for me that would be bare leg weather (afternoons) but not bare toes. Down in the 60s or lower 60s, even bare legs start to feel "off" for me.

What the others said. So much depends on personal thermostat and what you are used to, temperature wise. I like the idea of a dress for you since you wear them so well and are comfortable in them. But for me it would be with booties or closed toe shoes at that temp, and possibly hose.

It's going to depend on your personal thermostat, of course, and what you are used to, but for me this is bare legs+boots weather! So I'd leave the sandals but bring the dress and some boots. Or if it works with your oxfords, that might work too.

I would leave the dress and sandals at home. I don't wear sandals with the weather we've been having and it's too cold for bare legs too - I've been wearing hose again.

ETA
Take the dress if you want to wear it with closed shoes and hose.

This is my summer temperature range and I think you've got the right idea. However, I'm a light packer, and I tend to use the formula that

tops x bottoms = # of outfits

So three tops and three bottoms that all go would get you through 9 days without an exact repeat.

I would take either a dress and ditch a couple of tops, or a skirt that could sub in for pants so you can dress up if needed. I'm not a sandal wearer so don't have opinions on that. I have a light wool poncho that works as a blanket on the plane and a fun jacket substitute.

Sounds like a fun trip!

We leave for two weeks in Koln (Cologne) and Vienna on Sunday. My packing list is pretty much set except I'm wondering if I should bring a dress and a pair of sandals? I will have occasion to wear them for a few dinners, but I also have dressy slacks and tops packed that would do just fine. We have this type of weather so rarely in OK, that I genuinely can't remember what it feels like - will I be cold with bare legs and toes??

What I'm packing for 14 days. I don't expect to do laundry, so I will rewear all the bottoms frequently and about half the tops, I expect.

Lightweight utility jacket and umbrella
Black slacks, dk grey slim fit jeans, dark wash slim fit jeans, and light wash boyfriend jeans
about 10 tops of varying weights and dressiness level
2 cardigans, a black ponte blazer, and a kimono type topper
2 pair of oxford/sneaker hybrid shoes for walking plus my Keen MJs

Travel wear - either another pair of jeans, or yoga pants (worn with a top that covers the rear, obvs), and a lightweight overshirt and/or pashima. I'm leaning towards thick, black yoga pants for the comfort factor ... it's a loooooong flight to Frankfurt and then a train ride to Koln ...

On the fence: dress and sandals OR another nice top and dressier oxfords

It looks like it may rain in Koln next week, which inclines me to leave the dress and sandals at home ... What say you fabbers? Take or leave?
