thanks to Angie for the reminder: my knee boots have rolled old t-shirts stuffed into them to help keep the shape. You could also use magazines, etc.

I don't pack my boots away, but in July or August, I take most of them to the cobbler to be spruced up, re-soled and fixed - ready for Sept when I wear them again.

All my boots get TLC. The taller styles are held up by boot shapers and stand upright freely in my wardrobe. They don't push each other around

MPJ Yes they are grey, 20 eyelet ones, the style is 1b60
Joy I'd wait so that the waterproof coating is fresh, not sure whether it would degrade over time and need doing again before wearing them? Though on the other hand I suppose it could protect the boots from marks and dust while in storage? x

Damp cloth with vinegar-water solution to help clean (especially salt) and condition (yes, vinegar conditions!) boots. If obvious repair is needed, then go to the cobbler. Usually it's not the entire sole that needs it, just a heel lift (especially if it's uneven). Good to go! Treat boots just prior to the season that you will wear them in.
p.s. I never pack away my boots -- they're out all year...

I applied a coat of Kiwi shoe polish to my smooth leather boots before packing them away to help protect the leather. I'm also putting some of those silicon bead packets with them because we get humid summers. I'll be watching for more tips.
I haven't waterproofed with spray yet but was planning to. Louise, why would you wait? I'm just curious.

Louise - I'm glad you chimed in - can you remind me which docs you own - I think they are the gray ones? What is the name again? I was wanted to stalk them in case the price dropped during the summer.

When you're packing away boots for a season, do you take them to the cobbler first for...I don't even know what to ask for! Here's what I'm packing away:

* suede Earthkeeper Timblerand snow boots (they come waterproof or whatever)
* Miz Mooz cowboy boots
* LC ankle boots - again, I've been told by the company they need no waterproofing

Seem like I could just take a damp cloth or something, wipe off the leather and I'm good to store them away? Unless they need sole repair (they don't as far as I know). The Miz Mooz have never been waterproofed...should I have that done now, in preparation for fall?

Thanks!
