Helenedith, I saw that tunic and I love it! I want to get a couple of their knits. Didn't notice the grey boots, but I'm sure they are lovely because I could happily wear anything from their autumn collection this year. I bought their cream suede oxfords in the summer sale and they are gorgeous. Their shoes are beautifully made.

I used to put Katies and Sussan in the same category too, but they don't seem to be close at all any more. The things I saw in Sussan today did seem expensive for what they were, so I agree with you. Katies seems more reasonable. The only thing I've bought from either place in the last few years is a nightie from Sussan.

Although I like the look of Sussan's style, their clothing never works for me and I think it is always about the quality of the fabric, whereas going into Country Road usually ensures I purchase something - Saturday I bought the sleeveless tencil tunic and the lovely grey boots and then got out of there fast before I succumbed to anything else. I wasn't intending to buy that much but took advantage of the special offer, spend $300 get $100 discount

Interesting re the culottes Dimity. I do think the challenge is to get the right pair for your body. I need to have them flat over my tummy for example, not pleating or gathering.

Re Sussan, I used to put them in the same category as Katies. But over the past years they seem to be upscaling themselves. I don't buy much from them at all, as a lot of it doesn't work for me and is just too not me. And when I do see something I like, it's often priced higher than I think it's worth. I actually find Katies produce more interesting garments at better prices.

Hello Oz people!
Well, the culottes at Target are selling fast. I went in there today and of the 'Runway to Rack' collection, they only had the orange ones left (no grey or black). I like orange, but this was ORANGE. I felt it was too bright for me and didn't try them, but I tried on the other brand they had in black. I didn't take a photo because they looked too frumpy on me. The legs are very wide, and I thought that while I want wide legs, I didn't want them quite as full as these ones. A line anything usually works for me, but perhaps it was the fullness combined with the gathers at the waist. I don't know. The fabric seemed nice, and they seem true to size too. I felt that $79 was probably okay if on the high side. The white fabrics are very thin and would be a bit too see-through for me.

On a side note, Sussan had knits that were made out of cheapish fabrics, yet they were asking the same sort of money as gorgeous Country Road knits. Is Sussan trying to go a bit higher end than where I had positioned it in my mind (firmly in the low-mid range)? Where do you see Sussan in the spectrum?
