I hear you--isn't that just the thing with shoes and accessories? Can I find the universal one, or just throw in the towel and have multiple pairs for seasonal looks.
Dilemmas, dilemmas.

If I thought oxfords would stick around awhile, they would likely be "my" shoe due to low heel height, benefits of lacing to adjust the fit compared to slip-ons, wearability with both skirts and pants, 3-4 season wear (not much winter slush and snow as a rule) etc. and I would have no problem investing in multiple pairs.

They do read a bit dark with these trousers, but then you are wearing a light jacket. So I'm not sure. I would still likely aim for something lighter for spring/summer.

I appreciate the yays and the nays.

Suz, I agree completely. I will aim for that for casual or non-work dresses & skirts (& bermudas) for summer. I think for work I am going to just forego that look altogether, as very pale footwear doesn't feel right there and the % of time i wear skirts is lower.

Joy, you have a good point, and I haven't decided yet. I'm being a bit more calculating here, since my eye hasn't really adjusted to the higher vamped shoe look, but the oxford is a style I like better than a bootie with skirts and tends to be comfortable for my feet. So I am liking these more as I try them with other outfits. However, I think I might like any of several types in this general color range--also could use something in the gray family (Team Black/Gray and Team Brown--so bad!). Not sure whether to hold off or just add more later! i have a more summery style & color ordered.

I've added pics of some light tan trousers, 2 pairs, with the oxfords which I am trying on because these are pants I will still wear for awhile (even though wide-ish!) as the weather gets warmer because I don't have replacements yet and I like the colors and lighter, washable fabric for warmer weather and with safari/linen early summer colors and rusts/fall colors. I do not have a good flat non-boot shoe for these now as have been wearing a clunky comfort-type shoe. I think they work even though would be more fresh with tapered slouchy slacks.

It doesn't sound like you love these so I vote pass. To update the look from what your mother wore, a brighter color or metallic and less bulky style might feel better.

I agree with Suz -- these are great with trousers and skirts with dark toned hose or tights. You are lean and elegant, so these are definitely not frumpy.

Go for a lower contrast shoe if you want to wear sheer hose (or no hose) and a skirt -- so tan, taupe, white or cream, silver, pewter, blush, pale grey, even yellow.

These look great with pants and the darker hose!

I really like them with the darker hose, and I think you are right that a high contrast is trickier to pull off. Looking for a lighter version could be useful. The oxfords are very pretty in themselves,, so I can totally understand that you picked them.

Although I can't get a great view of them, I like the shape and bronze shine. I totally get you about 2 and 3; I can't get used to the high-contrast look either. But I think they look great in 4, 5, and 6.

I think it's a matter of having your eye adjust to the look. And I like your idea of exploring lighter colors. I tried on some dark oxfords but ended up with a neutral, almost nude-on-me oxford for a lighter look in the summer, when I'd be wearing them with dresses and no hose.

I received my order for Munro oxfords. I tried some rapid stylings and I'll share my thoughts on what I see--but I could really use some input.

I actually tried both a burgundy/black patent and the bronze/brown ones shown here. I've excluded the burg/black because they are TOO dark and I think the patent is not as giving for comfort and they're just not right. I went on with the brown because the color is more mid-range though still dark.

Pics 2-3 are with nude hose and skirt with several tops styles. Right off the bat I can't take this look. Too much pale leg and dark high-vamp shoe and I feel like a granny.
It could be "it's the shoe," but in reality I think I do not like me in pale hose/flats/pencil skirt for work at all.

Pic 4 is a blouse with dark hose.
#5 is the styling I like best. I tried darker but sheer-ish hose--off-black is all I have on hand--and with the sweater/skirt/oxford and to my eye I think it works. It is much more "me." But is it "good" or just not as bad ?

Next is pants--these are "sort of" straight but but to use as an example, that I think I would enjoy wearing these shoes with pants. That is important for CPW --not as good for me to have "skirts only" shoe except with maybe with fun inexpensive shoe.

So here is a summary:
-- I think I may be in the market for a more stylish wing-tip shaped shoe, but this brand fits better than some I've tried. I like saddle oxford looks, but not with a lot of contrast for work.
--for the higher-vamped shoe, I need not-black; need more mid-range color, and maybe even much lighter than this one, though if too light it doesn't go with work wardrobe and is harder to style with tights (see next item!) . I have ordered some summer-tan oxfords to try for summer-casual.
--I just really need to have some kind of darkened hose, for a tonal look, to feel happy in skirts at work, but am happy to go sheer. So I need to see what "colors" work but avoid "suntan" look--intentional dark grays, indeterminate taupe/brown, or something.
--I need a low and stable heel. Really 1/2 to 1' is best. If the shoe depends on a 2" heel to achieve its style quotient, it's the wrong shoe.
--these shoes could be a bit dressier with a narrow shoelace instead of the floppy look.
-----these are not really late spring-summer, so if they're not going to be "in" next fall-winter, I shouldn't get them.

Now on to you: are they too frumpy no matter how styled? Too bullet-shaped? If too tapered, they aren't good for my feet; too "big" and I feel like Minnie Mouse. Bad color? Maybe a more yummy taupey-brown.
I don't have a good eye for these, as many of today's oxfords look like what I wore and even what my mother wore years ago.
--if I'm on the fence, I could keep these a few weeks but not wear them, while checking out some more spring merchandise. But then they will really be "next year" shoes!
