I tried them on in a different color and loved the fit, the comfort, and the look. I am excited about the metallic. I know I had decided taupe would be better, but I think this metallic is going to be better than any I've seen yet. The downside: I have to wait 2 weeks! Waaah. I could have ordered them online, but since I could order them at the store where I tried them on, I did so. I'm leaning now toward the Paul Greens--and taupe over metallic. But I want to check out the Kate Spades before I decide. My thinking is that I actually have several pairs of metallic shoes. I can wear my high-top metallic sneakers with a lot of the same outfits as oxfords, so I do have a metallic option. I like the way the taupe bookends my hair, better than the Seychelles metallic. They are pretty, and I like the subtle sheen, pattern, and shape--they seem more caramel than Tanya's, though, and I have a pair of caramel oxfords (not metallic) that I suspect they would duplicate color-wise. <br /><b>Shevia</b>, it's encouraging to hear you like the Doc Martens on me. I kind of like them, too, in the photos. They felt so big, looking down at my feet in real life, though. It might have been partly due to having the wrong size. And these are very shiny, even though the color is a gorgeous one for me. So I ordered them when I returned the black ones. </p> <p>Then I found some others to try, and they arrived today: Fly London Yif, in "sludge" suede, an olive brown color; Dr. Martens 3989 Brogue in pewter spectra patent; Seychelles Welcome Back, in pewter metallic. </p> <p>In the meantime, I tried on the Halogen Daphne in gray at Nordstrom. it was cute, but not all that comfy. The leather was pretty stiff. </p> <p>I also found the Kate Spade Pella flat brogue in a color that translates to "lead." I have not ordered it. </p> <p>Here are the ones I've brought home, styled somewhat. The two first outfits are ones I would typically expect to wear with oxfords. The harem pants are a wild card--wouldn't expect to wear them with oxfords, but if they go, it's a bonus. The skinny pants outfit I'm not really liking, but I <i>would</i> wear the pants with oxfords--just probably not with the tee tucked in as I have it here.
