I think you're on the right track with these, just not there yet. I like the idea of a more feminine low-vamped oxford to wear with skirts, because they are a more refined look, and they make the foot look smaller. They'll also go with shorts. Have you tried the BP Sidney ? They are inexpensive, but I've seen them in real life and I think they look a lot classier than the price would indicate.
Hmm, so it's a little hard to see, but to my eye these look a little too flat and slippery, and the pink sole is not really helping. I have similar foot shape, I think (narrow in back but buniony in front), and I find Born oxfords work really well, so maybe give those a try?

ETA: Some born styles:

I have Arlettas in 2 colors, unfortunately right now it looks like all the light colors are sold out. They have a perfect almond toe that I love:
http://www.amazon.com/Born-Wom.....B0055G36T6

A ghillie lace style:
http://www.amazon.com/Born-Wom.....;qid=13677

These are more feminine but super flat (which I find uncomfortable):
http://www.6pm.com/born-ibis

Similar to Arlettas but in tricolor:
http://piperlime.gap.com/brows.....38;mkwid=S

unfrumped, i just got a pair of these. a similar style without the pink sole. they are of course not extremely high quality, but they could last you a summer. there is also a solid color version that is not on sale.

http://www.urbanoutfitters.com.....LE_W_SHOES
Thank you, Eliza and Angie.
I'm sorry, I do need better photos. Will aim to put them on later and just take a close-up.

They are relatively comfortable but probably more so because they are flexible and slightly wide overall-- but not really cushy-support comfortable, and I think they are not going to hold up.

Angie, what resonated from your blog was the idea of trying to hurry and get in on something and then just having a lot of items we settled for. These shoes are ones I feel as though I could wear right away with the skirt and with some other items and poof, I'm wearing oxfords to work in the summer; but they are not exactly what I'd hoped for. They don't even really work with my long pants, for some reason. Not a 10. So I'm thinking this is exactly the thing I need to work on--more patience. I am a slow learner there.

I have tried on several CH's at one of their stores in CA this spring and was tempted by their tan with orange soles shoe--forget the style name at the moment--but didn't bite--combo of that color and the look. I still have big-foot issues with skirts, and maybe that's something that isn't meant to be. But the CH were definitely better made than the DV's. One of our local dept stores carries them and had some on sale, so I may look again. Or my shoe is still out there.

Pondering....

Unfrumped, is there any way that you take your pics from closer up. I feel that my comments don't do your outfits justice, and that my assessments are inaccurate, because I can't see them well enough!

Like here, I'm loving the oxfords for you, until I saw the sole of the shoe. I need a clearer visual with your outfit - if possible.
Unfrumped- Fellow "picky" oxford lover here. I have similar fit criteria to you and think I found close-up view of your shoe on a website. My take is that the lower vamp, especially when combined with the hot pink sole, makes the shoe read much more feminine than a traditional oxford. I love the tailored, masculine look of oxfords more, but that is a question of taste or preference. They do not look quite as durable as some other oxfords. I have two pairs of the Alisa Cole Haan oxfords as I was wearing my first pair so much, I knew they would be well used. They are narrow in the heel and fit the foot closely, while their pointier almond toe allows adequate toe box room for me. I love the supportive footbed. I also have a pair of cream colored Ecco oxfords, but they are a wider all over cut and I really feel that their size and color make them a much more attention grabbing shoe than the more subtle form of the CHs. The CHs have matching soles and laces, grey shoe with teal accents and medium denim blue with icy lighter blue accents. The colors make me smile. I have a Cole Haan outlet nearby, so their price point was very good.

Good luck with your decision. Sometimes when I can't make up my mind, I remember how definitive I am if I am really pleased with an item and I pass. I am now at a point (aided by YLF) where I want to love every addition to my closet, and shoes have an especially high bar because of the comfort factor.

If I found the right shoes on Zappos, they're cute. Not sure why, but I prefer them with the top in #2. You must be on your feet much of the day since you work in a lab - how comfortable are they?

I've seen these, and I'm a big fan. I don't know if I would specifically buy for summer, but I like them for spring. I also think you may not find a perfect oxford and may end up needing multiple pairs. I already have my second pair on the way.

I feel I need the eagle eyes of YLF'ers to interpret the direction of these pieces shown below. Yay or nay?

I've tried several options for summer oxfords for shorts and skirts but come up empty. It's a combo of issues with color, style and fit. Too heavy-oxford-y in my size 8.5-9 feet and they are too clunky for skirts. Too dark, not good with bare legs or nude hose; whites, not my goal for work. Grays run blue-gray. Fit can be tricky--I can wear a pretty slim oxford due to narrow back of foot, but if too pointy-slim it is bad for toes--need these to be all-day shoes. So I finally tried these DV perforated suede oxfords from Nordstrom because of the lower profile and taupey-gray color.
#1 BR cardi, AT skirt, DV oxfords
#2 BR back zip shell

What do you think of them with the skirt? Please ignore my lack of shoulders--would be wearing lab coat over, but was trying the lighter tops to bookend the shoes. Also taking that into account, there is a lot of white + pale legs sticking out, which also drives me away from darker colors.

Pros--mostly good color, low contrast with pale legs, seems to go with grays and beigey browns okay. lower vamp looks less clunky, medium width gives more toe room, perforations mean I can wear in summer. Can wear with shorts and crops.

Cons--DV not as well-made, style not as dressy, for skirts; lower vamp and more rounded toe may be less on trend--less Kate Hepburn ( as if!), medium width is wider than I need in heel and mid-foot, suede is not as polished. Hot pink sole is not a goal but is acceptable. I think I have more leeway for footwear to look slightly dressed down from the outfit, & comfortable, since the women physicians are not wearing a lot of pumps--it's trainers with scrubs, or clogs, or ballet flats, etc.

I've given up the fantasy of one oxford to rule them all but have been surprised how picky I am with small differences for different bottoms. Yet I don't want one shoe per outfit!
