Thank you both for the reassurance about big buttons. Inge, I'd forgotten Shiny's coats and she is much smaller than I am! I'll go back to Stein mart and take another look. The jacket fit so well that I think it's worth the investment. (It seems like a lot of money after buying most of my wardrobe at resale shops or huge sales.)

Hi all. I am a size 4, barely 5'4". I bought a red fitted twill jacket a few weeks ago with oversized buttons. The buttons are the exact same colour as the jacket so I get the look of oversized buttons which I like, without overpowering my frame. I hope this helps.

I also think large buttons are cute and funky. I would say go for it! If you're worried about their proportion on you, maybe you could take some pictures in the store and post them?

I adore big buttons and think they can give an outfit/item some extra pizazz. It's one of the reasons I love Soïa & Kyo coats so much.
I'm not sure how the size would affect a petite person. As always it's a question of proportion and it's possible you might need to try a few on to see which one works for you.

Did you see the pictures Shiny posted recently of her two S&K coats, maybe this can give you an idea:

I'd love your opinions and advice on jackets with oversized buttons and wish I could post a picture. Stein Mart doesn't have any shown on their site. I looked at Nordstroms and found only one that comes close:
http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/30.....3&P=2
The jacket I'm looking at is more fitted so the buttons seem more prominent.
If you have seen and maybe tried on any big button jackets, especially if you are petite, what do you think?
I've been on a search for light weight jackets and found some at Stein Mart last night, although most are not fitted. Many have big buttons which I'm wondering might be over powering on a small frame (size 2 or Xsmall). I'm also wondering about this big button style. Is this something I just haven't noticed before? Is it on it's way in or out?
The jacket I'm interested in is their Boutique brand, fitted and short enough for skirts, in red. It's on the sale rack and there's an extra 20% off coupon this weekend, but it's still about $70. Get it or pass? Thank you for any advice you can give me.
