Often there are videos of each transaction as well. Might depend on store/area.
If I really had a question about an overcharge I could always look up on video to verify.
I would go back to store - or call and speak to manager today and make appt to go back. Give her all the info you can from receipt. My bet is that they will fix it.
If not, I would ask very politely for district manager information and contact her.

You can dispute with credit card company but that takes forever.

This happened to me a few weeks ago. The sales girl didn't put a pair of shorts in the bag. I went to the store and explained the situation to the manager. She promptly gave me a store credit because there were no more shorts in my daughter's size. And this was in Forever 21, not a department store.

Oh Geeez Shiny, an error of that ammount must be addressed. What the heck is this sales person doing? and how did she ring up items that weren't even yours.

The manager should be informed because something doesn't jive with the sound of this,...this isn't an easy error to make,..ok you can double ring...same item, but two entirly different items...just sounds odd.

I am glad you noticed this. Bring this to the managers attention, could have happend before.

I've never had a problem with getting a refund in a situation like that. If it's convenient, it would probably be better to do it face to face rather than over the phone.

Encore, FYI, most stores don't keep that close tabs on inventory to be able to make that kind of determination; with the number of items that are returned, zeroed out as damaged, sent to other stores for sales, hung on the mannequins for display, and bought every day, it's just impossible to track that precisely.

Shiny, I would be shocked, *shocked*, if they didn't refund you on the spot.

I agree, call and speak to the manager, or stop by the store with your receipt to do the same. I can't imagine that they wouldn't refund you the extras; it's very likely the salesperson got sidetracked by the conversation too and put them on the bill by accident. It happens! When I was at F&T, if anything like that happened, we would refund them whether they had the tags or not. As long as they had the receipt, we would do everything we could to resolve the situation. Most of the time we didn't even have to bring the manager over to do it!

By all means call and ask to speak directly to manager.

You might want to even suggest that they check inventory and that would find they have two extra in inventory and that would not balance with their sold inventory (or something like that).

If that doesn't work and if you paid by credit card, call your card company and dispute the charge.

I would call and speak to the manager. Over charged for two extra items and by $50 is a big deal! You shouldn't have to prove yourself. Once, I got a package from Old Navy that had been opened, pilfered, and resealed. I called and told them what was misisng, and they sent me replacements right away- at no extra charge.

I just realized I was overcharged at the AT Outlet the other day! I know, I should've double-checked my receipt before I left the store, but I got sidetracked by the sales lady's questions about the floral pin I was buying.

I just took the receipt out to record the information on my budget tracking worksheet, and discovered the errors. Plural because there were TWO errors. I bought 4 items: a pair of sunglasses, the floral pin, a jacket and a white shirt. There are 6 charges on the receipt - One extra accessory and one extra "woven."

So... what to do? I have all the tags, which have already come off the purchases. I've worn everything but the white shirt. But how do I prove I didn't buy two extra items? I was overcharged $50!!!! This is not a small amount!!!! Yes, I can't believe I didn't notice that.... but as I said, I got sidetracked with the whole floral pin conversation... I was also in a hurry to get back to work.
