I have bangs like that Nicole. Do you blowdry them? I have to dry them with some tension from my brush in order to get them to stay on the side. Can't wait to see the new do.

Thank you everyone for the great constructive advice! I do like it when my bangs sweep off to the side, but they never seem to stay like that. Here's a photo that was taken about a year and a half ago. This is how I like my bangs to look. But I also have my head cocked just so. Keeping my bangs in that position is another story.

http://s289.photobucket.com/al....._16090.jpg

My appt is at 11, but I have a crazy busy day/evening. I probably wont have time to post anything til tomorrow. But I'll take a picture of it today.

Thanks again everyone for their suggestions. It's like having a bunch of moms and sisters and best friends who offer you great advice!

Since it's haircut day I'll add my thoughts. Gorgeous eyes, hair and skin. I'd take the haircut up a few inches so that there's some breathing room between your shoulders and the the bottom of the haircut. Don't change up the style too much, you don't sound ready for that. I like best when you hair is pulled back, up or flipped because I can see your neck more. You have pretty much a beautiful oval face. I'd keep face framing bangs on the longer pulled over side.
I love that your hair looks natural and casual. You look so approachable. I defer to Angie on hair color. Her ideas sound wonderful. Do you freckle in the summer? I love that look.

I hear you Nicole. I’m sure that you and your hairdresser will come up with a fun do tomorrow. Still very pro the red streaks because you have beautiful pink skin. See how you feel tomorrow and run with it.

I’m excited to see your yellow top. Black cardi over the yellow top is another option. It will offer the streamlining that you are after. And you desperately need white pants!! Bumble bee palettes rock.

Nicole, I'm bit late with my comments tonight, but I have to say that I loved that shirt/sweater combo as well as the jeans outfit. I like the red on you, but not that particular cut of the shirt.
I envy you on your flippy hair, it's so cute. I have had long straight hair since I was 8 and am too much of a coward to do anything with it, but I enjoy fun haircuts on other people.

Maybe you could try the yellow top with white jeans/cream pants. I think two light colors would balance each other out, as opposed to light top/dark bottom.

I hear you, Maya, RE: everything looking safe and neutral. I am so self conscious of my upper body size, that I do tend to try to play it down with dark, neutral colors. The images I've posted are actually colorful compared to how I dressed a few months ago!

I recently bought a yellow short sleeved, ribbed, square neck sweater. It's a pretty bright yellow. I've yet to wear it because I feel too significant in the yellow. I'm going to try it on with the white cardi I bought today and see how that works. Sometimes I start to feel desperate, and I buy things I shouldn't. I'll have to try on the yellow top and see what you all think about it.

Pretty hair shouldn't be cut just because you turn a certain age Nicole! If anything you should showcase it. I really like the flip.

I think you're right about pink with green. Also I love you in blue and I think that would look pretty with the pink. Yellow as well but be prepared to stand out! I think I like you best with color near your face. You have a dreamy complexion for all kinds of great color. Right now everything is a little safe and a little neutral.

Angie....my reservation with the longer in front choppy hair cut is that EVEERYONE and their mother seem to have this cut right now.

I usually just let my hairdresser do whatever she thinks is best, both with color and with cut. Once in a while I'll go in with a photo but that's never realistic. Facial features and hair texture are never the same--not to mention AIR BRUSHING!

I don't want to be one of those women who look older than they are because they wear their hair too long in an effort to look young!

I'm way over due for a haircut. My hairdresser usually gives me blonde highlights in the spring/summer and red in the fall/winter. But the red always fades to blonde by the time I'm due for a new color. My hair is VERY dark, so I'm always worried that the blonde streaks look too harsh.

I'm going to lose that red shirt. Once I saw the photo, I realized it didn't fit right. It's a cheap Old Navy shirt, and was an orphan, so no big loss there.

The striped top is one I almost got rid of because it has an empire seam. But I love the colors (which are various shades of pink and cream and black). I decided it would work as a layering piece, esp. since it's sleeveless. I hadn't thought of wearing it with other colors though--that's a great idea! What contrasts well with pink? Green, but I don't really own a lot of green. (making mental note of lack of green!)

The jeans are (drum roll) Old Navy! HA! And they are kind of old, but they are very comfy, and even though they are boot cut, they fit on the straight side. I just wish they were a tad longer.

Thanks for all the input. I find it so helpful! I know it's difficult to tell someone something negative about their clothes, but I am thick skinned and I want to know if something isn't working.

I like your longer flippy hair cut. How opposed are you to a short choppy crop with longer layers in front ? Stronger red and copper streaks will bring out the pink in your skin tone. This is especially striking when you wear black and brown which I know you like to do.

ps hope you saw my comments about your fab flippy hair do and outfits in another thread

I actually think your hair color is beautiful and I love how you have it flipped. I would just clean it up. It's the first thing I noticed about you!

You look great in red also, but I agree that something about the fit isn't right. Does the shirt have any seaming or darts? I think these details are crucial for you.

The jeans on the second row, #2 are great. The fading is actually really good for you and balances you out well. I also like the striped shirt under the scoopneck sweater. I wonder if another sweater in a contrasting color would add some more interest though. The striped shirt looks like it has shades of purple in it? It's a bit hard to see. But another color on top might make them pop more.

Love the coral cardi! I hope you model it for us sometime. The white bag is cute too. Nice shape.

Hi Nicole

I like how you look in red (curious also about how a more cooler red, cherry or raspberry e.g., would look), but agree with Becky that the fit isn't completely right.

I love the striped shirt with the open collar in the second photo, it looks really fresh.
And (I know it's an older photo, but hadn't commented on any pictures yet): I think that shade of blue (long-sleeved V-neck top) looks absolutely gorgeous on you!

I think the red shirt would have been better if I buttoned one more up. I hadn't thought of one more down. That red shirt was actually one of my orphans that I thought I'd try to wear again. I think it might be heading to the consignment pile though, after seeing it in a photo.

Nicole, you look great in red! One of my favorite colors! In that first picture, what would it look like if you unbuttoned the shirt one more button? It looks like it might be pulling a bit across the bust, plus one more button would give you a deeper "V".

The second outfit is my favorite. I like the way you have your hair styled in that pic (with the "flip").

Oh and pay NO attention to my hair in the picture with the red shirt. I hadn't dried it yet. I was going to block out my face the way most of you tend to do, but it wasn't worth my effort. You all know what I look like!

Also, I have a hair appt tomorrow, cut and color. Any suggestions? I had it at my chin length about a year ago, and have been growing it out ever since. I'm thinking of keeping it longer for the summer. I know alot of you are big fans of short hair--but I don't have the features to carry off a really short haircut...
