Wear your gorgeous new shoes. It’s a YLF order!

By all means get a flat iron, Tam. It’s fun to experiment. I’m sure you’ll master the skill for sleek hair days.

Thanks ladies - now I'm really blushing! Angie I'm glad you noticed I was trying some different shoes The silver ones I got from Vietnam (am I starting to sound like a broken record yet?) but haven't really worn them because I think of them as too "good" or "too pretty". I need to get over that and just wear them - otherwise there's no point in owning them!!

Sad to say the sleek hair will not be repeated until I get another haircut. I am toying with the idea of getting a straightening iron so I can try to replicate it. I don't even own a brush though, so there's no way I could pull it off at the moment!!

Now as to other Vietnam treasures...no more from my parents recent trip. When the colder weather really sinks in I'll be unpacking the winter coats I got made there last year with varying degrees of success. And yes one is red! Stay tuned

I am late here, but I must say that your new haircut is absolutely incredible. It looks so good on you!

I absolutely adore the vest ( and the whole outfit) and the new green shoes. I agree that the skirt in the first photo should be shortened a little. I like all the outfits actually except the maxi dress, but I can imagine that it is indeed comfy.

KILLER haircut. Love it! You look absolutely wonderful, Tam. Very sleek. Will you keep it straight like that? It’s sophisticated yet soft, strong, striking and elegant. SUPERB.

Yay for the silver and green shoes! They are fabulous! I know how hard it is for you to get out of your birkies. I’m physically sending over a HUGE hug of congratulations. You have made me SO happy. You just got 100 YLF gold stars.

I’m with Nicole on the length of the skirt. It’ll look nicer shorter. Love the waistcoat and entire outfit. You also look great in all your other outfits bar the maxi dress. I think you know how I feel so I shan’t bore you with repetition

I am also a fan of the Maxi dress on you. I think that you can pull it off with your funky style. I would love to also try that look (I know that it may not be encouraged but there is something about the flow that is great on you!)

Hi Maya, thanks for your comments. I am starting to warm to the idea of attempting to hem this skirt myself. If I fail there's really no harm done as I'm not in lvoe with it. Yep that's my natural hair colour (v dark brown). Every 6-8 weeks I put a semi-permanent black rinse through it, but I'm def. overdue for that!!!

HannahMichelle and Tarzy I am really touched by your comments!! HM the green skirt is a very basic a-line shape - no frills. I got this one made up in Vietnam. I like my skirts plain and simple :)

Lena I think I'm going to be going belt shopping soon. I don't own a brown or white one. I'm very scared of belts. As an apple I don't think they do me any favours, but some outfits like this dress really need one to define the waist. I don't think I could wear one over or under cardis as many of you lovely ladies are able to!

I really like the red shirt dress, Tam. I second Shiny, a white belt would work great and really make the colors pop.

Great haircut outfit. I adore the flats (I have a soft spot for shoes in that color). I like how the flats coordinate with your necklace, too. And to second earlier comments, this shade of purple is great on you. You look smashing in these jeans. All in all, great job.

Congrats on the haircut! First thing I noticed were your cheekbones

I love the haircut. (Look at your amazing cheekbones!)

I would have guessed you are a winter, but Shiny is much better at these types of things.

You do have a wonderful natural quality to you, like you never try too hard (which I really envy.) I love you in brights and clear colors, and of course red, which you totally rock. (And yes, I think brown shoes would look good with the red dress.) I love the skinny jeans on you, and I also really like the "going to the mall" outfit - so simple and effortless!

You have such a cute style! Kind of effortless and earthy. I love it! I adore your grocery shopping outfit...colors, earrings, sandals, everything. I suppose the skirt could take a hem, but I don't find it especially unflattering as is. The green skirt is fab...I want one.

Oh I'm late but I think I'm in agreement with everything Nicole wrote. Every day looks great except for the maxi dress. It just doesn't seem to do anything for your shape and it makes you look shorter and wider than you really are. The skirt from the first one is too long, but it would be cute shorter. I think it's worth the alteration.

I like the straight hair. Is that your natural color?

Thanks so much for your kind comments everyone! I'm fond of the haircut so far, but I always like it straight (thus my attempt at permanent straightening). Washing it and having it bounce around everywhere and go frizzy will be the true test of whether its any good! :)

Nicole, the too-long grocery store skirt isn't worth altering as its at least 7 years old, and the thin cotton its made from is showing its age. It also has an underskirt that'd have to be hemmed too. I wouldn't take it to a store to get it done, but maybe I could try at home. Do you think that could be done by hand (I don't have a machine)???

Nicole and Shiny I also get what you mean by the horizontal lines of the maxi dress not being the best. Other than that I kinda think it isn't too bad (I have no curves that it is hiding) and it does a good job of hiding my many tummy bulges! I'm not sure that I need another one (Angie is probably screaming silently here), but I'll keep an eye open. The look certainly appeals to the inner hippy in me that used to wear black ankle length skirts with doc boots :)

And shiny I hear you on the state of the cons. They are at least 10 years old. Replacement ones are def. on the list next time I am shopping. My black ones also have holes in them so I'll be grabbing 2 pairs. I'm slowly trying to freshen up my frozen-in-time student wardrobe of the last 4 years I'm going to wear the pointy-toed green shoes a few more times to non-work things before pulling them out for work - I need to know they can stand up to running around for 12 hours first I also have the same style in black, and in yellow, and the originals in purple too. Pointy-shoe overload!!! :)

Shiny I have no idea whether I'm summer, winter etc... I love black and red, but also darker earthy colours too like brown, maroon, purple, turquoise and emerald green. This year is the first time I've worn a white shirt since high school, other than that I have no white, or beige to speak of in my wardrobe. The palmar surface of my hands has definite blue overtones. I used to have very pale skin, but with age, and now that its summer it seems to be darkening a bit. Who knows! Basically I avoid pastels and white :)

I have to say that I'm now 100% converted to skinnies and have ylf to thank. I only bought these ones in Nov/Dec and I've barely worn my other jeans since. The rise on these is too low and they're now a size or two big for me in the butt, front and thighs. I've diligently been recording the brands/models of high rise ones you guys are discussing, and plan on trying to track a few pairs down in April when I'm over there!!! I think we have 7FAMK in one of the department stores here, but haven't actually tried them on yet. I've never seen COH or Rich & Skinny jeans here though.

The shoes from vietnam are so cute! I love pointy toed flats like this, and such a fun color.

The vest outfit is fantastic on you - you look great in these slacks, very tall with endless legs. However, while I like the concept with the converses, those sneaks look like they've seen better days! I'm afraid for me they detract from the outfit's overall polish. What about wearing the vietnam shoes with this? Or throwing the converses in the washing machine?

I like the shopping day outfit (black top, red purse, green skirt) and much prefer it with the cute red flats.

The maxi dress: I think you have the height to pull this style off. I can see you lounging around pool-side in a maxi! However I'm with Nicole that this particular maxi dress - with the horizontal seams - could be better. While the horizontal seams aren't quite working, what I do like is that it's not overly full and forms a column, accentuating your lean tall height. I think it's worth exploring maxi's if you really love this style. You can probably get a deal right now.

The grocery shopping outfit: I have a skirt very similar to this, from ON. I can understand the appeal of such a skirt. I save mine for trips to mexico - great for sightseeing in the extreme heat. It's not my best look (too full) but oh well; sometimes practicality takes over. I do think this skirt would look better on you hemmed to the knee.... but is it worth it, that's your call. The shape of the green skirt is more flattering on you. A-lines and pencils are your look!

The red dress has potential.... a nice basic piece but in a bright cheery color. Do you have a brown bag to coordinate with the brown shoes? How about a white belt?

I like the "going for a haircut" outfit a lot. Those jeans are amazing on you!!! LOVE. They are 10's. You look so skinny and they accentuate those long, long legs of yours. And those green shoes.... they are so adorable. They are 10s too!

I like the color coordination of the purple and the brown, and how the chunky pearls hit at the top of the brown tee shirt. That shade of purple is gorgeous on you. I think this is what they mean by "murky" and "greyed down" ... but I'm not a color expert. But I do have to say that I like this softer color on you quite a bit. I also like the purple top worn with the grocery-shopping skirt. I think such colors are more flattering against your skin than black or even the red. I'm starting to wonder if you're a summer? Hmmm.... what do you think?

The haircut looks wonderful! Hope it works out okay when you wash it. Does it feel nice to have the extra inches taken off?

Hi Yublocka...I keep forgetting your in Aus. Sorry abt the crazy weather.

Grocery Store Skirt is too long...but I think it's cute and would look great at the knee. (why is it not worth altering? It might be a good "learn to hem" project then?) I like it with the silver sandals.

Maxi Dress: I don't think this dress in particular does anything for your figure. the floral band across your abdomen draws attention there. I like this kind of top of on you though.

Mall outfit: It's cute and casual. I like that you added the pop of red with the bag. Maybe some more structured shoes?

Vietnam Vest: LOVE LOVE LOVE everythign about this outfit. You look great!

Haircut outfit: LOVE this one too. You look so slim and stylish!

Haircut itself is awesome! You look great! Did the hairdresser straighten it?

Very very very good! I love the boho look on you. You wear it so well. I love the look but cannot wear it so I am thrilled to see it working so beautifully on you. I think your maxi dress and the long cool cotton skirt are wonderful for a hot day or night. Just perfect and romantic looking. I love how you mix it up. I just admire those who aren't afraid to mix up their style and stay out of a rut.

So the weather here has been crazy. In one week its gone from 40C to 20C, so my outfits are all over the shop!

Starting from last weekend: grocery shopping! It was hot and I wanted to be comfy. This skirt is way too long isn't it? It is nice and airy though, and definitely not worth getting altered. Is it acceptable or not? Oh and please note I am not wearing birkies for once I actually don't think the light skirt works with silver shoes though, do you?

http://flickr.com/photos/yublocka/3277462685/

That night we walked up to the local pub for dinner. It was windy, but a hot, hot wind. I'm wearing a dreaded maxi-dress, obviously bought pre-YLF. I have to admit I do kinda like it though - its so comfy and airy!!

http://flickr.com/photos/yublocka/3277467351/

Then the next day I went to the mall. It was still really hot!

http://flickr.com/photos/yublocka/3277461015/

Next up is a few work outfits from during the week. I didn't have time to take pics every day.

Here's a shirt dress my Mum brought back from Vietnam. Its a duplicate of a long-sleeved brown one I got there first time, made a touch shorter and short-sleeved. What do you think? Since temperatures plunged, I wore black tights with my dark brown Campers. I was thinking a brown belt might have worked better with brown shoes but I don't have one. What do you think?

http://flickr.com/photos/yublocka/3277469089/

Another work outfit. This is the brown vest my Mum got in Vietnam. I am loving these vests!!

http://flickr.com/photos/yublocka/3277461907/

Finally, today was still cold and rainy, but its haircut day so I had to leave the house.

http://flickr.com/photos/yublocka/3278289822/

The shoes are also from Vietnam. First time wearing them today to test the comfort factor. They passed 1 hour wear (with no walking) with flying colours. Here's a closeup. They're also duplicates of existing shoes.

http://flickr.com/photos/yublocka/3278286146/

Finally the haircut! It's hard to tell what it's going to look like once I wash it but here it is from now. I like it, but am a little worried how short it is and how much it will bounce up when I wash it. 4 inches off in total. Oh well, whatever happens it'll grow back won't it, it's just hair after all :)

http://flickr.com/photos/yublocka/3278286954/
http://flickr.com/photos/yublocka/3277461445/

All thoughts/comments appreciated
