I can also dip into the jewel colours of the winter palette because dark Autumn is close to winter. I try not to be too strict about wearing my seasonal colours but do try to wear a good colour near my face if possible. Part of the reason why I share these experiments is to demonstrate that it is possible to branch out from a seasonal colour palette and neutrals. Lighter colours, especially cool light colours, are a challenge for me but, despite that, I have managed to incorporate them in my wardrobe in a way that feels comfortable for me. And wearing colour feels distinctive and makes summer a lot less boring from a style perspective. (PS I love the colour of your sandals. Metallic green is a bit of a HEWI for me.)</p> <p>Suz, I think sage looks fantastic with dark blue. That’s the combination I would pursue if I were you. But sage green pants and skirts are hard to find. Olive is a lot more available.</p> <p>JAileen, it’s a lovely, delicate colour isn’t it? So natural. There’s tan and camel but that’s about it. My solution has been to wear lighter colours away from my face. Since a long skirt is a larger colour block than a tee or tank top, wearing a light skirt makes the overall palette light, even if the top is dark. I’m also thinking of branching into turquoise next summer - away from my face.
