Lisa, thank you very much for the kind comments and the thorough response. I love your color suggestions. I am a big fan of dopamine outfits and I often crave colors in my outfits. I am not a neutrals girl, although I also love elegant tonal outfits. I would use red, green and orange, but the rust is a new idea. That I have not thought about. Sounds like a really interesting combination of warm rust with the cool cobalt.

Jenni, thank you very much for the kind compliment. You wore bright yellow loafers with a yellow silk top? That sounds fabulous. Bright yellow is a beautiful and happy colour.

Star, thank you very much. I will wear this outfit after all.

Sharan, thank you very much for the lovely comments and for the advice. It is an excellent idea to change the shoes in 3-5. I don’t have a faux fur jacket at the moment, but a few leather jackets. I will definitely try these.

Unfrumped, thank you for the excellent suggestions. I have silk tops in blue. I might have a blue sweater, although I do not wear knits as much as jackets or blazers. A micro down jacket is a great idea.

Jamie, thank you for looking and for the kind feedback.

I actually love #1! It just looks so calming and professional. I would love to go to work looking that good.
What gorgeous trousers.
I do like them all. I would probably want to wear my bright yellow loafers with the yellow coat but they would be seasonally confused I think. I wore them yesterday with my “Mondrian” silk top which has the same bright yellow so I probably have those on the brain

You’ve done an excellent job pre planning outfits for the new satin wide leg trousers. Every combination here works beautifully on you.

1- I like the overall dark vibe of this for days when you’re craving column of color dressing.
2- The scarf swapping works well here. If you want to add another punch of color to this look I’d swap the dark bag for something lighter. One in the color of the scarf would be bold yet fun. Or an ivory bag would also pick up the lighter tones in the scarf.
6- This is my favorite of the group. You wear high contrast so well! And if you want another high contrast and bright look I’d try white with your blue.

8- I also like the scarf here, it’s fun and adds a lot of visual interest to this look.

No matter which outfit you pick you’ve got a winner here!

I’m a big fan of blues and here are some additional colors I’ve worn with mine: red, orange, rust, green. All could be fun to try if you have them in your wardrobe and are craving color. :)

All fab!

For tonal looks, I like something that would use fabric like your multi- blue scarf in a blouse or even a jacket. Or— and I know you’re a blazer fan, but maybe a micro down jacket, or a sweater ( for texture) and a modern vest, sleek steel blue covering of a down( or faux) vest if with textured sweater , or a shorter cashmere type sweater - jacket over a silky blouse. But I’m heading into winter so am thinking cozy.

Anyway, point is I’d try a range of silvery mid- blues & grays with maybe touches of your pink, or another accent color.

Katerina, you can do no wrong in my book. All of these look fab to me. The satin trousers are just gorgeous on you. I especially love that dark pink in 2-5, the lime green in 2 and the yellow in 8-10 with the blue satin. I don't think the yellow is too high-contrast at all. I do have a slight preference for the longer jackets. To my eye, it's not the length of the shorter dark one (3-5) but perhaps the crispness of its look that contrasts a bit with the flow of the trousers. It's not bad at all, but I might dress down the shoes with that outfit--wear oxfords, perhaps, or your chic sneakers. Maybe the gold buttons are conveying sportiness to me.

Additional ideas: I think you could try a boxy jacket that sits at the hip-bone with these trousers, if you have one. Or glam it up with a faux-fur jacket or vest, for an evening out. Or leather. Satin and leather are so luxurious together.

Suz, thank you very much for looking and for the advice.
Yes, You are right, the trousers will work for evening too, good idea.
The yellow coat is in fact more casual - I see the difference now.
Thank you for giving me some inspiration for jackets to wear with the trousers. You have a great and very varied collection. I have some longer blazers, but unfortunately most of mine are mid length. But I can try with a couple of my shorter leather jackets.

ETA I adore your vintage leather jacket.

Carla and Kate, thank you very much for looking and for the feedback. I am glad you like the yellow coat. I have had it for about three years and it has not been worn very much. I am trying to wear it more this year.

Kate, I love tonal outfits too. When done well, they are very chic. I am trying to include more textures in outfits and to add some textures to my wardrobe, as Suz has talked about in her thread. It is a work in progress

The trousers are beautiful! They look as if they could easily dress up for evening, too, no?

I love every version here. #1 is calming and very professional. #2 has a bit more pep because of the lime or citron. Love the fuchsia/ pink with the blue in the next set of outfits. For me, the contrast of the last few outfits is not too high, but it gives a completely different impression -- it seems a bit more playful and and perhaps casual than the other looks, to my mind. I'd wear any of these, but wear them on different kinds of days. If that makes sense.

I also think the jacket in this length works, but if it doesn't please you, do you have a slightly shorter jacket? I like my wide legs with shorter, cropped, and cheeky jackets (examples below) OR with longer, more dramatic lengths (ditto). I tend not to like them as much with mid-length jackets. That's partly due to my personal proportions and figure flattery concerns, though. The one exception is my mid-length leather trench, which seems to work due to waist definition and dramatic collar.

Another option might be to try that jacket in the pink accent outfit worn open. That might open up the look a bit and make the proportions feel better to your eye?

My favorites are #1 and #6-8. I don't find the yellow too much at all. Adore the yellow coat, and it brings a lot of brightness to your face. When I wear tonal outfits, which I love to do, I often rely on texture to up the oomph factor.

I have a new pair of blue satin wide leg trousers. The silhouette is tricky.
Lately, I have been exploring monochrome dressing and played with the idea of monochrome blue - rather a tonal blue outfit. I also tried a very high contrast outfit.
1 Tonal blue outfit, The scarf is dark navy with a royal blue pattern. Royal blue bag. Black boots. I quite like this outfit, but it would need something lighter or brighter to give it more life. What do you think?
2 Tonal blue with an accent. The same outfit as 1, but I changed the scarf and used a brighter scarf with mainly blue and green pattern. I like this combination better than 1.
3-5 Shades of blue with pink. Here, I tried the trousers with a navy blazer and pink bag together with a blue-green-pink patterned scarf. I like the color combination. But I think the proportions are off. The blazer is perhaps too short or too long with the trousers… I like the trousers better with the longer toppers. What style of a topper would work with this shape of trousers?
6-7 The high contrast outfit. The blue wide legs with a bright yellow coat and various scarves. I am on the fence with this one. While I normally like high contrast outfits, not sure this is not too much.
8 Bonus pic - the yellow coat worn with a blue printed scarf. This might work with the new satin trousers too. I wore this the other day with another pair of dark blue trousers.

What do you think of these combinations? Yay or nay? Comments, ideas and styling advice are much appreciated.
