Thanks so much, Shiny, for the pictures and great suggestions. I will put my dad to work when he comes to visit!

My out of season stuff is stored in plastic moving crates in a closet under the stairs:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/2.....519275274/

I also have some items in under-the-bed storage, but I have found no matter what storage you use under the bed, it is apt to get dusty somehow. So I just keep my out-of-season "gear" there (i.e., my winter running clothing and winter pj's).

About three times a year, I haul everything out, and do a closet rotation.

I have very little closet space too; if you hit the browse button you'll see further pics of my closet arrangement. Coats - I didn't take a photo of those. Leather coats are in my closet. Out-of-season coats are in the hall coat closet. In-season coats hang on hooks in the back hallway, which nobody uses unless they are going to the basement. My dad made me a custom shelf with numerous hooks that lines the entire hallway, for ample coat storage. We have four people in our house so we have a LOT of coats, but this system seems to work okay.

Becky, ha ha I have been trying to do that and I think I'm doing a really good job. 5 bags of clothes, 2 shoes, and counting! But, I have coats and such that just don't make sense to keep in my closet and take up a lot of space. Have any of you had success with sturdy, enclosed garment racks or wardrobes?

I have been inspired by you all to keep only the best, but man, it is hard!

May I suggest that you rigorously cull your clothing before moving so you have only the "cherries" left?

Out of curiosity, about what are the dimensions of your closet? Mine is an oddly shaped 6.5 deep by 3.5 wide, and I have a feeling I will have to make some changes to what the owner has put into it.

Hmm...well, I don't have much closet space, either. I use Sterilite plastic drawers that I put above the hanging parts of my closet to store winter clothing, like this:

http://i66.photobucket.com/alb.....0249-1.jpg

I got them at Target for $20.00 each. They are in the organization section, and they are called, "rolling carts," but I just leave the wheels off and it works great:

http://www.target.com/Sterilit.....038;page=1

Hey all! I'm moving to a great place that unfortunately has very little closet space. I was hoping to hear from all you clever gals what has worked for you in terms of storage of off-season clothes or garments that you don't wear often. I don't have much room inside the bungalow, but I do have a garage. I am also interested in brands that have worked, as I know some garment racks are really flimsy.

Thanks so much!
