Hi, I think dolman or batwing sleeves could solve your problem. And lucky you, there are plenty to choose from this year!

Hi,
You might look at shirts with peasant, balloon, dolman, batwing or bell sleeves as they are meant to be fuller.

You ladies are great with all your suggestions! I never heard about "full sleeves." Like, can I walk into a store and ask for a shirt with full sleeves? Or does it say on the label? Sorry if I seem so clueless!

Another tea lover here. I often face similar problems, though I have square shoulders.

I also thought of puffed or full sleeves. Or (and I haven't done this, but ages ago someone on the forum recommended) ruching seams with a bit of elastic to tighten them up.

Taking in side seams is mostly pretty easy if you have a sewing machine.

Have you tried petite blouses with full sleeves at all?

I've seen some blouses will full sleeves out there. If they haven't hit your stores yet, you could try thrift stores. Good luck!

Hi Everyone! Thanks for the warm welcome and the suggestions. I live in Appalachia, so quality tailoring might be hard to come by. Maybe it's time to break out the sewing machine or look for an online store that would custom-make something with my measurements. If anyone has ever tried a service like that, I'd love to hear about it.

Welcome, tea lover!

My suggestion is to find yourself a good tailor. Relatively few people are evenly proportioned everywhere. I'm petite too, but with different fit issues (short waist, narrow hips, quite a full bust) and if I want to wear fitted shirts, coats or dresses, I sometimes need to take them to the tailor for adjustment. I buy clothes that fit my fullest parts and have the rest taken in. It's pricey but what can you do (besides wearing stuff that doesn't fit, which is not fabulous).

oh dear... You have my sympathy. I am petite and sounds like we are simular build except my arms are quite skinny. Most petite shirts that I get have quite narrow sleeves already even for me sometimes. As to solve your dilemma, I think you have several choices-1)buy larger size that fits your arms and have it tailored(which sounds like a major pain in you know where, you poor thing :(), 2) wear sleeveless tops or 3) have couple of shirts custom made.
I think if you find a good tailor in your area, it may be worth it having couple of tops custom made. I had a blouse custom made for me before and it ran about $80. Not cheap but if you want a perfect fit, it can't be beat

Loves Tea, welcome to the forum! You had me at your username alone.

I not only love tea, but I have a whole cupboard full of tea selections. My boyfriend does NOT get it!

Shoot. I don't have any suggestions for this specific problem - shirts are a trouble spot for me in a different way as my bust is large and my waist very short - so I'm hoping others will chime in.

Hi Everyone! I've been enjoying the YLF blog for a quite a while decided to join the forum. Does anyone have a suggestion for shirts that can be good when one body part is totally out of proportion to the rest? I'm very petite with short arms, narrow shoulders, relatively thin waist, barely fill a B-cup, and yet I have really thick arm muscles. So most long sleeve tops are too big everywhere else and too tight in the arms. More importantly, does this kind of thing happen to anyone else? Why do clothing manufacturers think if one part is small, the whole package must be small? Thanks for any help anyone can offer me!
