I can't believe your coworker had the nerve! </p> <p>I will say that this was my first concern about the cropped legging look, because I used to dress my girls up in cute dresses with leggings underneath. I think it is a real risk especially if you choose a legging color other than black (especially anything bright like hot pink), and also depending on the shape of the dress (nothing in the shape of a toddler pinafore, if that gives you a visual). But you say your dress was a work dress in a sheath style, so that has me puzzled: I should think that would be fine, and if I was to wear leggings to work, that's how I would do it too. I guess we need to see a pic!!</p> <p>Meanwhile, if it eases your mind, this weekend at the reunion I saw tons of women wearing leggings with a dress. These women were around 47 years old, and in a variety of conservative positions, including lawyers. I wear a suit when I have to go to Court (rarely), but otherwise, casual/smart casual/fashion forward is acceptable.</p> <p>Greenglove--unfortunately, i can't do photos. I have a jumper-style wool sheath dress (work dress) that is just a tad too short. I wore it over leggings, but because it is wool, I had to wear a t-shirt under it. I wore a nice shirt, though. And pewter brulees and pewter necklace. </p> <p>I was walking down the hall, and one of the older paralegals giggled and said "look at you, dressed like a little kid." </p> <p>wow. That's not the image a young attorney wants to perpetuate. </p>
