Wow, this is thought-provoking!

I am thankful for my sweet hubby of 34 years and our wonderful 25-year old son.
I am thankful for my sisters, brother and mom, all of whom I dearly love.
I am thankful for the many things that my Dad, who passed away in March, taught me.
I am thankful for having had the opportunity to live in another country - it enriched my life.
I am most thankful for good health, this beautiful earth and the life I have now.

Lovely idea, Sparky!

Where to start? I'm thankful for:
1. My wonderful DH. He's funny and entertaining. He's also a consummate gentleman with an old-world sense of responsibility and I trust him beyond anyone else. We've made each other better people.
2. My family. My parents are good friends as well as relatives and we love to spend time together.
3. Health. All of us are healthy and active.
4. My animals. They're loyal, full of love and true in their affections. They entertain us, feed us and are family members in every sense.
5. Our friends, new and old. Where would we be without them?
6. Our little farm. Our house is not only a place to live, but also my passion, and I get great enjoyment knowing we're restoring and caring for a place I can pass on for yet another generation to appreciate.
7. Employment. In tough times, we're both employed.
8. Safety. In a world gone mad, we live in safer times than most (any?) century prior.

:)

I am thankful for:

- my husband, the best partner and father I could ask for.
- my two beautiful, funny, exasperating, amazing daughters, and I'm especially thankful that we were blessed with them despite so many losses before and after.
- the fact that despite the economy, we have jobs, a roof over our heads and food on the table.
- my family - both my crazy, many-times-blended one and my husband's big, exuberant, everyone-married-50-years one.

Wonderful idea for a thread. I have so many things to be thankful for this year (and really every year).

1. My amazing husband who works 12 hours to provide for my daughter and I, but can still find the energy to come home and help with the housework, watch our daughter while I workout, or volunteer to keep our little girl on Black Friday.

2. My daughter - She was a unexpected, unplanned, but total gift from God. Her nearly toothless grins, giggles, and slobbery kisses can make any bad day a great one.

3. A loving extended family - this includes my Parents, My In-laws, my Grandmothers, My sisters, My brother-in-laws, nephew, nieces, Aunts, Uncles.

4. My friends

5. My health

6. A warm home

7. A job that I love and find it a joy to do each and every day.

I know, I know, this can be a bit hokey. But right now as I wrangle three children to bed and it feels like shepherding a horde of cats, as I think of the year filled with the loss of two important family members, and as I stress about Thanksgiving preparations, my mind drifts randomly over things I'm thankful for.

So I was wondering, what are ten things you are thankful for right now?

Here's what comes to mind for me ~ and tomorrow I'm sure I'd be thankful for ten completely different things:

I'm thankful for my noisy and sometimes exasperating children because they are a joy anyway (especially when they're asleep!!)

I'm thankful for my Thanksgiving babies who will be seven on Thursday!

I'm thankful for the humongous triple layer chocolate birthday cake I made for their party last Saturday, and that I've been eating morning, noon and night since then. Yum.

I'm thankful I have a home, that I have a roof over my head and plenty of food to eat.

I'm thankful my husband and I can open our home up to others on Thanksgiving, and that we have friends to share the holiday with us this year.

I'm thankful that I'm hosting Thanksgiving at my home, so that I can eat leftover pie for breakfast for days to come.

I am thankful that since my twins' birthday falls on Thanksgiving this year, I have an excuse to add yet two more desserts to the menu: birthday cake and ice cream.

I'm thankful that I have a family to look after and to look after me.

I'm thankful for all the beautiful new clothes I've added to my closet this year, especially when there are others who lack basic clothing for warmth and decency.

I am thankful for the wonderful community and neighborhood we live in. This afternoon someone left an apple crumb pie on our doorstep with a lovely card offering sympathies and support to our family as we mourn those we have lost.

Did I mention I am thankful for all the delicious food that abounds this time of year?
