LOVE Grandpa! That is priceless....We were really disappointed- had only 14 kids come. A mix of young to teenagers... We made up small plastic bags with 3 candy bars in each bag....One teen girl in a group of 5 said she liked my hair, so I told her she gets a extra bag for that and her friend immediately said 'I like your shirt' so she got a extra bag too! lol...

We just had a hand full, such a nice clear evening here, which is unusual.

I got a kick out of my daughter who had two different costumes for the weekend. She is a college student and lives with 7 other girls. They went as Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs, my daughter was Happy! And for the next party they went as Party Animals, she was a tiger and wore a party hat! Oh, to be young again!

We went to our friends' house and played cards while the kids went trick-or-treating. They probably had 75 kids come by. I honestly don't mind seeing teenagers trick-or-treating. They enjoy going with their friends and it is good honest fun.

We had 8. There are now 3 bags of candy in the freezer. That's not good.

I hear you can make hot chocolate by melting a couple of candy bars in milk. That's also not good, because then you're still eating the chocolate bars.

When we lived in the city, we had floods of kids (and sometimes scary adults) for hours. I don't even want to think of how much I spent on candy. It was great. We'd mix drinks and sit out on the porch with all the neighbors.

Now in the country, we don't have a single trick-or-treater. We live far off the road and houses are at a distance. No walking here...they'd have to drive. I still put out the pumpkin and candles just in case. Last night DH went out the back and snuck up to the front door to bang on the knocker. He's such a goofball.

I still buy candy, though. I just eat it myself. :O

Thumbs up for the ghastly grandpa! I have a 1.5 year old that doesn't eat candy (long story), so we didn't go trick-or-treating. Instead, we made a trip to the mall where we saw LOADS of kids (and parents) dressed up and getting candy. I didn't even know you can t-o-t'ing at a mall, LOL, but it's a great idea for cold weather...
We're definitely going to do dressup and trick-or-treat next year, hopefully Munchkin will pick her own costume!

Wow ghastly grandpa looks great! We had ~50-60 kids stop by, but only a few doorbell rings. They come in groups of 15-20 at a time. The best costume I saw was Rapunzel complete with long hair for the girls and Robocop for the boys.

We live on a great street for trick or treating, but unfortunately most of the kids living here have aged out of it. Currently there are only two families with elementary-school-aged kids, and we're one of them. Another family joins us (tradition) and we still have a merry time going up and down our street. The neighbors love seeing the kids' costumes and we get to chat for a few minutes to catch up. Everyone has lit jack-o-lanterns and lights on, so it's a festive atmosphere.

This year there were the two groups that we expected (total of 7 kids), then one middle-school-aged group (large, about 12 kids) came by right after we got back. DH always makes sure I stock up on candy "just in case" ~ and then "takes care of" the leftovers.

Best costume I saw last night was one of my kids, who was a chocolate chip cookie. I may be a wee bit biased, but he was the fastest cookie I've ever seen (dashing to every house) and the most adorable, especially when some of his chocolate chips accidentally shed as he ran.

Deborah, what a cute picture! That is one ghastly grandpa!!

The houses on our street are set far back from the road and the children and few and far between so we don't usually get many trick or treaters. We went to a friends for trick or treating and saw lots of cute costumes. My favorite was a homemade pippi longstockings - complete with cute red pigtails that stuck out horizontally!!

We had a ton of trick or treaters last night! Lots of little princesses, action heroes, and scary ghouls. It was especially fun because our daughter was home visiting for the weekend, and our 16 year old son finally decided that he was too old to trick or treat. He stayed home to hand out candy - in costume.

Here's our ghastly grandpa doling out the goodies. Not to worry, we made him remove his mask for the littlest ones!

We didn't get any. My friend's street has an unwritten rule that if you're happy to have T or T's you put a pumpkin or some sort of candle in your window or on your drive. Though she only got 1 she thinks it's because al the kids in the street are getting too old x

This is the very first year that we had a million kids! We lived up the block from our current apartment until this past summer and not a single kid showed up at our door. This year, our upstairs neighbors, who have an adorable 1 year old (dressed as the cutest pumpkin!), did a wonderful job with the decorating the building and handed out candy from about 5 to 8pm. When they ran out of candy, it was our turn! We finished 2 big bags of candy in about minutes! It was very quick so I couldn't really pay too much attention to all the kids' costumes, but some of them were really adorable.

We just had our first batch of kids, about 6 of them (some looked a bit old for trick or treating, but whatever) and they said they liked our cats. I was so overwhelmed by the whole thing I didn't quite notice what all of their costumes were. I'm not sure how many more we'll be getting since we live in an area with a lot of college students, but we have a jack-o-lantern out and porch light on, and a bowl full of candy waiting!

Did you get a lot of trick-or-treaters? Any amazing costumes? How was taking your (grand)kids trick-or-treating?
