Wow, that is brutal, VC-(
Here in Belgium we often wish for warmer weather and a few weeks of continued sunshine in the Summer, but I can say with 100% certainty that I would take our fickle and chillier weather over your heat anytime! I just cannot function in those kind of temps.

Great tips from Ana, perhaps this blog post can help too:
http://youlookfab.com/2009/05/.....-the-heat/

Hang in there, and do treat yourself to cool drinks, fruit and ice cream often!

Wow, that is definitely hot! Crazy. I can understand you, I would hate that too. I miss summer at the moment because it's cold and often rainy here, but I wouldn't like it if temperatures were that high either. And I think the highest we had was 40° celsius.

I feel you:(( .When I moved to HI i had to come up with a whole new wardrobe concept. And because its so humid, always, I can't wear anything silk which was a big blow(I still wear scarves though). I find that slightly loose cotton stretch blends work well, as well as lighter colors. Every so often I would like to wear all black but it just heat you right up I don't think I ever remember it being over 100 degrees here but even if it gets into 90s, its unbearable probably because its so humid
I did experience 110 degrees when I lived in MN and our AC was broken too! That was a nightmare.
I too, personally, can't wait until the summer is over and the temps drop into more comfortable upper 70s

Ana - thank you for the excellent advice. I clearly need some of those knit 'easy' type dresses. I have one I think. So far, I've just been managing with bermudas (non denim, because even denim is too hot) and skirts. Some of the other knit dresses I have are that polyester type material, and I've found it just doesn't work for me in this kind of heat.

I think this is a heat wave, but the thing is - it's very hot here no matter what. I am not used to it at all. I moved from the Pacific Northwest to Colorado and then to Utah. It was too cold in the winter in Colorado, and too hot in the summer there for me! It's worse in Utah, somehow. That said, it's a 'dry' heat, so I don't have humidity like I experienced visiting Houston in late June/July one year. Now that was uncomfortable!

Remember that weird heat wave we all got back in like March or April or thereabouts? I remember worrying and wondering if that we might get an extra-hot summer. I was kind of hoping that "mild winter" might have meant "mild summer", but so far - that doesn't seem to be the case.

It's 100F right now. I was going to run some errands, but have since changed my mind :)

I'm going to remember your tip about not scheduling a whole bunch of running around all on the same day - good advice, thank you!

VC, does your location normally get very hot summers or is this a freak "heat wave" kind of thing? My advice is to buy some knit dresses in a shape and color/pattern that you really love. Since it's too hot for fab accessories, finding a color and shape that makes you feel great is super important. Depending on if you have a very long summer ahead, try to get different colors and different shapes. I bought the same shape knit dress in four colors one summer and got super bored. It kind of ruined me on surplice neckline dresses for myself. They'll probably only last one or two summers, so I'd try not to spend *too* much on them (unless you think it will be a total workhorse). Also, invest in similarly great sandals.

Try not to schedule lots of appointments or errands at the same time that will have you running around all day. Space them out so you don't have to be outside that much. Sit in the shade, drink iced tea or lemonade (I swear it really helps) and take things sloooowly.

I did a quick calculation via a fahrenheit to celcius converter online the other day - and 111F is around 44 celcius. Yikes!

It actually got hotter later in the day. Cold chicken salad and some apple slices for dinner tonight.

Glad we didn't bother to buy a new BBQ the other weekend. There's no point - no one could stand oustide grilling kebabs or what have you in that kind of heat. I can't wait until summer is over.

Holy molly - that is HOT! I don't think I'd be worrying about what I was wearing either in that kind of heat. In fact, I might not be wearing ANYTHING!!! (lol)

There really isn't any 'styling' of outfits or being all that interested in fashion when it gets so hot that you can barely get through the day.

On Sunday, at 10:20ish a.m. .... it was 111F in my backyard/driveway. That was *before* it warmed up a wee bit.

Monday wasn't any better. Tuesday had cooled off to around 103'ish. Today was mid to high 90's - better, but still not very comfortable for me.

Very difficult to even think about what might look fab when it comes to clothes in these kinds of temperatures. Anything I'd like to wear is pretty much out the window, in favour of what I can comfortably get through the day in (very un-fab stuff). On days like this, I don't even bother to try and blow-dry my hair.

I can't wait to get out of this place! I don't know when it will happen, but it *is* going to happen.

I don't mean to be a grouch about summer, but these kinds of temperatures would make anyone "hate" summer, don't you think? It's barely even summer yet...I have at least another three months of this. To me, this isn't 'normal' - it's practically an inferno, and obscenely hot.

Like I said, I'm out of here! Not one more summer.
