Mochi,

I'm sorry to hear that your husband's recovery will take a little while. Can you ask for help from family, neighbors, friends etc. so that you get enough breaks from being a caregiver?

I know that situation would drive me batty. The last time my husband was really ill (flu) he needed as much TLC as my then-newborn!

Hang in there and hope you can pop back in here once in a while....

Mochi, hugs! I hope the surgery will go smoothly and without any side effects for your hubby. Good work on that shoulder, show it who is the master here! :-)
It is really exciting to start on this new eating program: please keep us posting on your progress.
I think it is a wise decision to focus on footwear for now. I tried those SW flats on - they are so comfortable. I would have gotten them if they come in wide width price and all!

Ah, what a sad note on your husband. Do not despair, I'm not a doctor but I know by own experience that these type of injuries do very well with time and therapy. It is just a lengthy process. He must feel quite dissapointed. I'm sorry.
Fantastic news on your progress! I bet you are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
I'm so glad to hear about you, don't be a stranger. We have missed you around these parts.

Hi, all. Thanks for the well wishes. Spent what seemed like the whole day at the hospital talking with surgeon and then getting tests and other formalities taken care of. It's definitely more complicated the second time, more risk of issues with wounds healing (he's diabetic), and the convalescence will be more involved and take much longer, with him at home at least a couple of weeks, maybe a month or more. I think that ultimately it will go well, but I'm still really stressed out about this as, to be honest, it's not fun to have him in my hair 24/7, when I'm trying to write and do a bunch of things, and he's often not the most grateful or easy person to be around. I guess I will have to keep focused on the long term and make sure to carve out some time for myself. I will say that I'm really looking forward to fall and a fresh start (and some more cool shoes :-).

SO sorry to hear about your husband. Somehow I missed that there had been another accident; what a shame!! You are a champ for dealing with all the stress. And yay for rehab and Lean Eating! I second or third the suggestion to hold off on a lot of shopping until you lose weight, but to supplement your wardrobe by thrifting at this time and also you can buy bags, scarves, and footwear, as well as some knits. Good luck!!

Sad for hubby, but very pleased for you, your shoulder, and your new program! How exciting! You are smart to wait and see what size you are before you do a lot of shopping - maybe some thrifting here and there, though? And I must say: you don't usually lose weight in your feet - shoes boots are fair game!

Hi, everyone! Hope your summers (or winters, if you're Down Under) are going fabbishly!

Quick hubs update: he has definitely cleanly tore thru the Achilles tendon, and since it's the second time it happened, the situation is more complicated and his doc had to pass him on to a more experienced surgeon, whom we will be meeting with today to find out all the details, including when the operation will take place. Hubs is sad and definitely embarrassed and everything you would expect, but that's how it goes and we're managing.

I'm doing pretty well...started working with a trainer in a modality called Z-Health that promotes rehabilitation through strengthening the nervous system. I am really enjoying it. My shoulder has come a tremendous way and I'm confident I can get it almost back to 100%.

I also just started (yesterday!) with the Lean Eating program as recommended by Suz, and it's very exciting! I'm looking forward to getting into great shape.

In fashion news....uh, let us not go there. I am thinking a lot about the Stuart Weitzman gunmetal snakeskin flats, but am honestly not sure they'd get the same amount of wear and versatility as a pair of boots. So on the fence. Not buying clothes as I'm not sure what size I'll be this autumn. I am a bit slovenly for now....

Life is basically very good, with much to be grateful for.
