I am so happy you liked my solution. I guess this is extreme alterations!</p> <p>Amy, I have learned a few things now. Like why my machine never made a pretty 'backstitch' before, I was using the bobbin wrong. And I loved the hem stitch that makes only tiny dots. But I guess I need practice because I was only able to hit every 4-5 dots. So I chose a straight hem for this first project. Gotta learn to sew straight. </p> <p>Next project, a skirt, from scratch. A trial one with cheap fabric. So my first project was to take my royal blue dress, and add about 14 cm length to it.</p> <p>I added the before and after</p> <p>I am thrilled at how it turned out and how lovely it is to sit down and not show my entire thigh now! </p> <p>Votes for the shoes? Both are tolerable height for me, the blue are all day shoes and the green are probably a bit less. One for dressy and one for casual?</p> <p>Do you gals like it better this way? Any choice of shoes? The girls here 10 and 13, have voted for green! </p>
