I swear by Shiseido Nourishing mascara base. It's pricey, but my mascara doesn't budge. And if I curl my lashes before applying the base, the curl really holds.
I use it with Shiseido perfect mascara, but I've also had good results using it with drugstore mascara.

Thanks for asking this Question Laura!!! I was about to start the search myself!!

Louise and Kyle, can you tell me - do you just apply the blinc the same way you do normal mascara? I know my Bro's GF sells it and uses it whenever she does a wedding make up for its long lasting/non smudging properties but I've never asked her how it actually goes on!

If its truly that good though I think its the answer! My current mascara (a maybelline one - not sure which), leaves black smudges within minutes :(

Otherwise, thanks for all the other suggestions - I'll have to investigate which are available over here! I NEVER wear eyeliner (can't apply it LOL), so I do need a good mascara!

Blinc is all I wear. No smudging or flaking ever. It coats your lashes in tubes and washes off with water, not greasy remover. Brilliant.

I'll second Marianna's recommendation for the YSL faux cils mascara. I also really like their Singular mascara.

Sephora gave out samples of Tarte Lash Hugger, and OMG it is the mascara I was searching for! Like you, I have tried a lot of them, and most end up clumping or flaking onto my face halfway through the day. Tarte not only stayed put, but does a great job of filling in and elongating my sparse little lashes. There are days I forego eyeliner and just use the mascara, and it's fine.

I bought the larger tube soon after, and I have not regretted it.

I like the Chanel Inimitable Waterproof mascara. It's a bit pricey at normal retail price, but I pick it up quite cheaply when I go through duty-free

I started using Maybelline's Stiletto ( waterproof ) a few weeks ago and I really, really like it. ( I used Maybelline Great Lash for about 30 years prior - seriously, I used the same mascara since I was 16 ! )

Good Luck in your search !

I am a long-time Lancome Aquacils fan.
Also, tried MACs new mascara - for both day and night. I LOVE the day brush - soft and never clumps - but is not waterproof.

I use Mary Kay it is OK but have you ever tried Rapid Lash. It is not mascara but an eyelash enhancer serum you can but at Ulta. I was a bit skeptic at first but it is remarkable. My lashes are so long they hit my sunglasses.

I've been using this for years: http://www.sephora.com/browse/.....id=P218400

Pricey but I love it. Nothing else I've tried compares. Really works. Makes my lashes long and full. I know YSL makes a waterproof mascara too.

I happily bought Neutrogena’s wax-free mascara until they discontinued it. Now I’m looking for a replacement - something low-key that darkens and enhances without clumping of flakiness. I tried Neutrogena’s suggested replacement, called Healthy Lengths I think - mucho clumps and Twiggy overkill. Then Revlon Fabulash, which at least doesn’t clump as much but smears a lot. Next was the classic Maybelline Great Lash, which wasn’t bad but left dark marks under the eyes after a while, even with the waterproof version.

Any suggestions? I would prefer something waterproof because I wear contacts. Department store brands are ok if they really work.
