What I didn't tell you all was that Ruby had breast cancer when she was 12. We couldn't bear the thought of losing her, so she had a double mastectomy and chemotherapy. It was a painful surgery, she was operated on from stem to stern, but she came through it all with grace and dignity. She looked like a sweetheart. </p> <p>All cats are lovely, full top. Even the ones that are ready to scratch your eyes out. It's not fair to impose human traits on animals. They do not do anything because they are mean and nasty. Those are distinctly human characteristics. If an animal behaves a certain way, there is always a reason for it. I never have expectations of animals, except to be their natural, glorious, wondrous selves. </p> <p>I guess I have always felt an affinity for cats because they are misunderstood the same way shy people are misunderstood, always overshadowed by more outgoing canine friends. I came across these of our cat, Ruby, and decided to practice making Photobucket collages (thanks Queenie!).</p> <p>Ruby has been gone 5 years now, but she was such a sweet cat. She watched over the children, dressed for tea parties, and participated in countless board games.
