Yeah, I am unfortunately familiar with groin injuries. I got one playing field hockey in high school and it lasted the whole season. I played through it and it killed me for months. I think groins are notorious for taking awhile to heal, which is why I have been keeping it really safe with sticking to the handbike.

Thanks for the rowing and boxing suggestions. Unfortunately, any extension of my leg exacerbates the injury--I can't even do ab exercises that require me to fully extend my leg. As for boxing: I have never known myself to be worse at anything. I must lack hand-eye coordination or something because I am just horrible at it. I took a boxing class once and the instructor was just at a loss as to how to help me to the moves properly.

I don't think I'd box with a groin injury, either. Too much twisting if you have a partner. Maybe work on the speed bag or the heavy bag.

I had a groin injury years ago and didn't rest it properly, and it plagued me for YEARS. I mean, YEARS. Like, 10 or 15. If I were in your shoes I'd just let the cardio go rather than take a chance on exacerbating the injury.

If you pulled your groin, rowing could be +++painful.

Boxing is great cardio. You would have to stand up but don't have to move your lower body. Not as effective but better than nothing.

Does the rowing machine hurt? It's a straight out motion rather than a kick or a run. It's more strength training but it has a cardio aspect as well.

rowing machine?? Or just lay low for a week or two. When I screwed up my ankle I was in marathon mode and going to a full stop was disheartening, but not the worst thing in the world. Healing is the most important.

I recently pulled my groin and have been told I shouldn't do any exercise with my legs for at least a week. This is making it really difficult for me to go to the gym. I have been using the hand bike, but that's the only thing I cardio I can think to do. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I am lifting weights for my arms and doing ab work as well, but I would like to get some cardio in. I have been told I can't even walk briskly or swim.

Katya, I know you are an athlete who doesn't use your legs, so I would love your input if you're around!
