On Monday morning, she went into surgery. The surgeon inserted a gamma nail into her femur. The picture below is an example of a gamma nail - it is a screw that is inserted into the hip bone and either another screw or a plate with a series of pins that run along the femur. In Lacey's case, she has a plate and 3 pins that run the length of her feumr. The procedure lasted little over an hour. </p> <p>She is at home, resting, and her biggest hurdle is pain management. As you can imagine, her bone is quite sore, but she is also experiencing muscle pain. She was stood up a few times and is pushing with her leg, but has yet to bear weight on it.
