Wishing you speedy healing. We went through this with DS last spring. Did your dentist tell you about using a frozen bag of peas as an icepack to keep the swelling down? It works really well - just make sure you wrap a towel around it for insulation.

Yikes! A few years ago I spent an unthinkable amount (think BMW or Mercedes) on dental work. It was full mouth reconstruction due to bone loss and other problems. I definitely know how you feel. I took 4 ibuprofen and 2 tylenol and it worked amazingly well, better than an RX pain pill alone and with fewer side effects. I followed this regimen twice or three times a day. It worked best if I took these pills before the pain got bad (so, prophylactically). After 2 weeks, I stopped. I know that's heavy medication but I only followed it for two weeks and avoided narcotics that way.

... Laughing at the white top/confidence comment.

Thanks y'all! These were the top two and had erupted so were tons easier than the bottom two which had to be extracted through the gums. Still a bit numb so we'll see how it feels once that wears off...

(The assistant after the first one was out remarked about it the length of the root and said "hey, wanna see?" Um, no, thanks.)

Ouch! I've had all my wisdom teeth out as they were sideways and would never come through. The top ones are much easier than the bottom ones for some reason. It's a pain but consider the alternative.
Pamper yourself today. You deserve it.

I had my last two wisdom teeth pulled this morning. I had the first two out when I was in college and it was a miserable experience with an oral surgeon and general anesthesia and stitches and the whole kit and kaboodle. So I put off getting the other two out, after they finally appeared, for years and years. My lovely dentist finally convinced me that they either needed to come or or get major fillings, and that's clearly not happening. So, off I went - actually it was not that bad, just local anesthesia and the pain hasn't really kicked in yet - I've had much worse fillings, crowns, root canals etc. But now I am a thirty-mumble year old woman lying on my couch with gauze stuck in the back of my mouth. Why are teeth such a pain?

So I think I'll lie here and watch daytime TV and hang out on YLF and post slightly loopy replies to folks' posts.

OK, here's something on topic: today I'm wearing jeans, a cream and wood violet printed shirt recently thrifted, and a gray cardigan. Once I went to the dentist for a filling wearing a white sweater and she said "that's confident of you". Hadn't even thought about it.
