Yes! I remember this show but we could not attend. Thanks for sharing the link, Srujana. I love the runway looks on these models. They look fabulous!

I missed this thread yesterday....

Thank you for posting a link! I'd heard about this but hadn't googled it yet. (I've had to do more work than surf as of late).

I'm certainly glad that it took place and even like some of the pieces shown.....being plus sized I appreciate the effort being made by the industry. I know the steps are small and tentative but I'm hopeful that I can at least see some variety in the future.

During the local media coverage of FW (Tri-State metropolitan area) the evening news broadcast featured this with footage from the runway and interviews with some plus size buyers for the major department stores, getting their impressions. They discussed the high projected growth in this area of retail over the coming years and how the fashion designers are increasingly expanding their lines to include this market segment.

From my couch, it was wonderful to watch these gorgeous, curvey models strut the cat walk in such beautiful plus size clothes. They received an enthusiastic standing ovation from the audience.

Yes, I noted that show too. Optimally, there would be a wide range of model sizes and shapes, all integrated together in a single show!

Not related to the runway show, but I saw this article in Marie Claire discussing how DKNY Jeans are now carried at Lane Bryant and Amazon.com in sizes 14-28. This struck me as a cool thing--had you heard about this? Just thought I'd pass it along, sorry to completely hijack your thread :).

Here's a cargo dress from the Lane Bryant website:

The Budget Babe posted this morning about a fashion show she attended during NYFW: "The first ever plus sized fashion show" to be held during NYFW.

Though not all of the styles were to my taste (those over the knee sheer ruffled socks in the 7th picture down- no thanks!), I thought the colors and the fabrics looked luscious on the girls. I have been living vicariously through all of Greg's pictures, but underneath every "oooh, aaah" was the knowledge that those clothes would never look the same on me. I'm not trying to bring up a size debate here or anything, but just wanted to share a link that I thought was really pretty. I understand the thought process behind using rail thin models to showcase gorgeous pieces of clothing, but I think this is beautiful too. Hope to see more of this in the future...
