oooh! Thanks Steph, I will check that one out. This area seems like it would be very fun, more on the quiet side, and the market a big plus. the chocolate shop sounds devine, putting that on my "to do" list for sure

I really like the 7th arrondisement and stayed at a hotel called Hotel Muguet, which was just a block from Rue Cler. I thought the location was perfect: very centrally-located, easy to get to the metro, and there were a ton of little shops. Plus, Rue Cler has a great farmer's market! Regardless of where you stay, I highly recommend stopping at Jean-Paul Henin, a fantastic chocolate shop (they also sell amazing jams, which we brought back to family members as gifts).

Jill, Thanks for your thumbs up for the area of Le Marais! I'm having a little trouble finding accommodations in that area, but will continue to search. Any hotel suggestions would be most appreciated! Merci!

I used to live in Paris too, and I ditto Angie's suggestion of Le Marais as a good place to stay. Easy access to all the city has to offer, not too "uptown" nor too gritty, loads of shops etc. It is probably one of the best as far as being near useful Metro lines.

Looks like the Relais Bosquet is in a great spot too. One of the city's best open-air daily markets is just down the street from the hotel on rue Cler -- if you do stay in that area, be sure to go!

You are Fabulous, Angie! Thanks for the tip, I will check that out. Love knowing that this is your favorite part of the city. I have read a few great things about it, and had that down as a possibility. I also had a recommendation for a hotel in the 7th new Champ De Mars, the Relais Bosquet. Merci beaucoup!

We used to live in Paris. An area known as "Le Marais" is hands down our very favourite part of the city. Not too touristy and VERY local. You might like to read this blog post:

I stayed at the Hotel California just off the Champs and loved it. Another charming area of the city is Montmarte, but I don't have any hotel recommendations there. I'm sure it will be fab!

I'm in the midst of planning a spring trip to Paris for my daughter's college graduation. It will be her first trip abroad and a dream coming true for her. I was in Paris for the first time a few years ago, we stayed in the Latin Quarter, and although I liked the area alot, I would like to stay somewhere new with lots of little shops, cafe's, market's etc. I realize that there are a zillion places to choose from, just wondering if anyone has a favorite spot or suggestion. Many thanks for any help...
