Welcome Aboard Amy!!! Nice to have not only another Aussie, but also another Qld'er here! I'm only in Central Qld and being drowned, so I can't imagine what it must be like further North.

We woke to rain again this morning, but later there was actually a window of sunshine for about 10 minutes so I sent the girls out to play while they could, and despite the rain coming back, they are both in better moods - just that hint of sun and a few minutes play has done them the world of good!

But holy moly the humidity is shocking now - my morning cup of tea is not as enjoyable as usual LOL

I'm with you Theresa and Katiepea. Also living in Nth Qld and thoroughly sick of the constant rain. Feeling fortunate that my little one is only 10 months and I don't have to worry about school drop offs just yet, but do know that by the time I get my son's 5 point harness undone we are both generally pretty wet.

I'm new on the forum and have been lamenting to myself how casual my outfits are, but like you I've found wearing decent shoes completely impractical with the ridiculous amounts of water around and layering is completely out of the question with this humidity.

Gosh it all sounds so yucky.

And Katiepea, how terrible that the school holidays look so miserable. Are there indoor play places you could visit?
Of course Teresa I do know you guys have had many years of drought. Pity it the rainfall can't just even out!

Kirstie I am sitting here nearly wetting my pants laughing so hard! But yes, you are sooo right - I'm not at all looking forward to the holidays!

Anne I feel so much for you guys - its just not fair that we are being completely inundated and you are suffering so much I know a lot of farmers and this is the first year since the summer of 1990/1991 that they are confident they have enough feed for their cattle...

Rute your hot and dry summers sound like what I'm used to!

Here's a pic of E's school's car park this afternoon... I arrived at 1.30pm, and stayed for 1.5hrs, so my car was just about ready to float away by the time I left I think! And no umbrella can keep you entirely dry when the rain is practically horizontal and you have children that require manhandling.

BUT, I should add the disclaimer that today alone, we have received our average December rainfall! CRAZY!!

OK, I am going to jump right in and say......

I'm so with you!!!!!!!! I am so OVER IT as well!!!!!!!! I hear you on the umbrella scratching the roof of the car worry; I hear you on the needing to wear thongs all the time to school because frankly there really is no other option when it is absolutely pouring; I hear you on the dodgy hair; yep on the soaking clothes; I hear you on the whingy, whiny, grizzling, impossible(!) children who are just wanting to play outside but can't and keep saying "carry me! carry me!" when you leave the house. I would also like to add frustration about the washing building up because it just won't dry properly or quickly enough. (Are you nodding your head in agreement? )

The cherry on the cake is when you realise that this time next week you will have not one, but THREE grumpy children who, if it keeps raining, are likely to have contracted an acute case of feraltitis. It gets worse when I realise that I'll be the one having to deal with the three of them all day, every day, by myself from 7am until 6pm for the next SIX WEEKS. <Katiepea shudders. She's silent for a moment. She takes a deep breath in then.......>

AAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

<Katiepea breathes out slowly and takes a soothing, calming breath>

Actually, that whinge was quite cathartic. I feel better (even if you don't reading it)! <tee-hee!> :-)

T, Hope you feel a little better knowing that your frustration is well and truly shared.

Wow that sounds scary! Such a change from the drought years you had for so long.

No wisdom from me though - our winters are hot and dry (and we have had a particularly dry year over here in the west - heaps of livestock heading east because they can't feed them here)

Sounds really annoying too. Hope someone will be able to help you!

**Those of you who live in wet climates feel free to just laugh at me!!**

Normally our summers are long, hot, humid, but only occasional thunderstorms...

This year, it has been raining now for a good month or more already, and the prediction is that it will continue like this til March 2011. We have roads around our town closed due to flooding, and our annual fireworks display that takes place on the river has had to be canceled because the river is flowing too fast. Due to the location of the girls Dad's work, if this keeps up, he may not even get home on his weekends off to have the girls... the road is currently closed at the moment, and is one of the first to flood...

And of course, its still quite warm unless you are out in the middle of the rain (and even then its only just a bit cool), I'm living in my flip flops so I don't kill my other shoes, getting sick of my hair getting drenched and going slimey from the goop when I run from the house to the car, have replaced my 3rd umbrella for the season (learned my lesson and bought a heavier duty one this time LOL), and I'm thoroughly over carrying Georgie everywhere because she cannot stand getting damp feet or having to jump puddles LOL!

Oh and because my car is brand new, I am too scared to prop the umbrella on the roof and open door while I strap G into her seat in case I scratch the car ROFL!!

**Rant Over**

I honestly have so much more respect for those of you who live in wet climates now! And I've resigned myself to the fact that my flip flops are here to stay for the season, and I am not wearing white shirts or anything else that becomes see through, or takes too long to dry off!

Seriously thinking of buying a raincoat/jacket - but no idea what to even look for as I wouldn't want one of those hideous thick plastic yellowy ones - I'd be a sweaty mess in no time, and not to mention look rather *interesting* LOL.

Any other folk going through strange but hideous weather issues?
Any suggestions for coping with this? (Angie I think you need to do a blogpost on living in HK LOL)
Who does actually live in a really hot wet summer climate?
