Thanks, st4rrgrrl, and you're right--I do see the occasional odd runner out there on the streets at 4 a.m., which is comforting to me at that hour when it's still dark out. I actually love my alone time running in the morning, but I still feel a need to communicate with other runners and trade info, stories, etc. I have my eye on a couple local groups, and as soon as my difficult schedule permits, I fully intend to join one of them.

Frances, I bet you almost anything that you could find other runners in your area who run at this time! You might be surprised! My father, who at 67 is still an avid marathoner, ran EVERY day at 4 a.m., throughout my childhood years, so that he would have evenings after work to spend with us. I would bet that there are a lot of other runners out there in the same boat--they might come out of the woodwork once you get your foot in the door with your local club(s). I would think that runners who work in fields like law enforcement and the medical field, also, might keep "weird" running hours.

Thanks so much, Ladies--these are all good suggestions. I should really revisit the Runners World website again--I've picked up great advice on their forums in the past about running shoes, but the site runs a little sluggishly on my computer so I haven't been over there lately. Same issue with the Nike+ site. Others look promising, but seem to need more participants. St4rrgrrl, my community is rich with running groups and that's a great suggestion--trouble is, their schedules conflict with my overcrowded schedule, so I haven't been able to make it work yet. The only time I have to actually run is from 4-5 a.m. That's why I thought maybe an online community I could check in with and get to know might motivate/inspire me and help me to stay accountable to my running goals.

Ana and NK, I will definitely look into dailymile and sparkpeople--they sound really promising! Thanks for the suggestions.

Daily Mile (www.dailymile.com) has a forum or ways to communicate with other people on the site. You can even narrow it down to your geographical area. I haven't really used the site, but I have friends who love it.

I think that Runners World has the bEst forums. Also, do you have a local track/running club?

I'm a member of a running forum over at sparkpeople.com, but honestly, I don't post or visit there much other than logging in my miles. They have a way of keeping track of your mileage that is easier for me than other methods. I think it's a good place to start, because there are several different forums to join.

What ended up motivating me there was a challenge issued by a team leader to run 50 miles each month. I never would have thought I could do something like that before and it's been somewhat life changing to prove to myself that I can!

Mapmyrun.com has a cool program for mapping out your runs (go figure, with a name like that! ) and keeping track of your miles, and I guess there are forums there too, but I haven't visited them.

I haven't run in several years, but I used to go on the Runners World forums quite a bit. They have a beginner's and a women's section and I remember people being very supportive and friendly.

Thanks, Michelle! I'm sure I'm just dreaming, but I realized that if I had an online running community that is as wonderful and supportive as the YLF Forum, I probably wouldn't be so tempted to slack off!

I know this is way out in left field, but I've noticed over time that there are a number of devoted runners on this forum, so I thought I'd give it a shot. I'm wondering if any of you runners have any favorite running blogs you could share or, better yet, online running forums or communities? I am in need of some inspiration/motivation. I have been an avid runner for many years, but lately the combination of stress and workload have been eating into what used to be my sacred running time. Ideally, I would love to find something like a YLF Forum for runners, especially women runners, if such a thing even exists. Thanks in advance--any suggestions would be very much appreciated!
