Marley, it is good to have you back! Congratulations on your new home and I hope the joy of this will wipe out the erst of your stress!
I use wooden hangers and some padded ones for things I do not want to stretch out like wool and silk.

Marley, I am so happy that you and your husband have a new home, you are starting a new job and that you are back posting on the forum. I do hope your stress levels have plummeted and you can relax now. We certainly have missed you very much. I am sending you lots of warm thoughts and hugs.

As for hangers, I use the tubular, plastic ones. Those wooden and satin padded beauties look awesome, but I am a terrible space manager. I hope you find a solution that will work best for you and your fine clothes.

Sending hugs Marley! I'm in the process of switching everything over to the Huggable Hangers. They do have the stacking hooks. I just organized all my jeans with them last night.

Hi Marley, I've been away for some time and therefore couldn't notice who was absent as well... now that I do know what was going on, I can only say I hope things are calming down for you and you'll be around more often.

Actually, you must. As you've landed the job at the bookshop you love (congratulations, btw), I'm pretty sure the place is calling for some creative outfits

Hugs, Marley! It's good to see you here again. I've tried zillions of hangers in my time and just love the Real Simple hangers from Bed, Bath & Beyond.
http://www.bedbathandbeyond.co.....SKU=123365 Watch the video.
I stack the hangers as shown for more space. (white shirts together, blazers together, etc.) These are perfect in s small not-a-walk-in closet. The slimline hangers without the hooks are not as convenient. The hooks are flat enough that the hangers don't get stuck on each other.
Edit: These are much like the Huggable hangers except the Huggables don't seem to have those fantastic little hooks that make these so useful in organizing but taking up less space.

Hi, Marley - so nice to see your smiling face, and hope that you'll be feeling settled and 'at home' quickly !!

I have to vote for the Huggable hangers (from HSN.com, I think) also!

I read somewhere about the sense of order that you get when all the hangers in your closet are the same. It took two years for me to buy and my sister to gift me enough Huggable Hangers for my closet, but it's true. I'm pretty visual and when the hangers are identical, then I can tune them out and see the clothing!

I love what they *don't* do to the shoulders of my tops and sweaters. I don't mind at all the way you need to mindfully put things on the hangers and take things off. (My husband hates them for that reason.) I use the ones with the lower bar to hang folded sweaters over (like you would drape pants).

The big hanger packs always come with miscellaneous accessories that I never need, but I've come to use and appreciate some of them. . .

Marley, congratulations to your new home and als the best while settling down.

As for hangers I prefer the wooden ones with rails from IKEA for Jackets, cardigans and other fitted clothes. I also use cheap plastic H&M hangers for shirts and T-Shirst since space is scarce. Recently I bought some huggable hangers and they are great. I have some shirts with a wide neckline or made of slippery material that would always fall down from my regular hangers. On huggable hangers they stay put, although I personally wouldnt recommend thesefor items that loose shape easily.

I love the wooden hangers with a rail across them that Rosee mentioned - I've converted all mine and most of my husbands, and given all the mismatched hangers to the charity store. Things look so much better on proper hangers, and you can see different lengths straight away when the hangers are uniform. And as MaryK says, you can keep track of when you need to give some things away with a good set of hangers!

SO good to hear from you! Congrats on the new home and the new job! I *LOVE* Huggable Hangers! Will never go back......they work better than anything for me...and they dont take up nearly as much room as other types and I dont have the 'sliding' issue at all! Ive seen them at Target and of course they have great prices on them (especially on larger quantities) at http://www.hsn.com Good luck!

Marley, congratulations on the new living space and the new job!

I know how much of a pain moving is (having done this twice in the past year and a half.) I hope that now that the move is over, you will have some time to relax and de-stress.

I use basic, plastic hangers for most of my clothes. For nice blouses, I use wooden hangers from Ikea. I have a few hangers that I think my Nana made years ago that are basic plastic hangers, but the plastic part is braided with fabric. I use these hangers for dresses or blouses that are slippery and tend to slide off plastic or wood.

Marley, Moving is tough but it will get easier. I've heard lots of people raving about huggable hangers, particularly that the ones from Target are better quality than the more expensive ones out there. I used to be a fan of wooden hangers but they take up too much space in my small closet. I just moved all of mine along.

Wow... things have been busy. Hopefully things will settle nicely now. Sending you lots of blessings.

HANGERS: I would get either wooden hangers or thick plastic hangers, all uniform. If you have an IKEA that is accessible, they have good hangers for cheap, but you should find them in many places for about 2 /$1 average.
I have wooden shirt hangers with a bar that I use for shirts /jackets /dresses /and pants (halved over the bar). I also have about 15 skirt hangers with clips. The thing about hangers is that once you get that organized, it seems to relieve SOOO much stress for some dum reason. I think it has to do with the uniformity. Good investment in my opinion.

I agree, matching hangers are awesome. I have wooden ones and although they take up a lot of space, I think that's probably good because it limits the number of acquisitions that are possible. (Right now I'm out of space so I'm doing one in, one out, which has been pretty successful so far.) They have them all over but I particularly like the ones from Target.

I have not been active on YLF for quite a few weeks now (however, I have peeked in everyonce in awhile to try to keep up with what is going on) because my LIFE got in the way! My husband and I finally found a place to live and we moved over the last couple of days. It was a horrendous experience trying to find a place to live - and the STRONG need that I have to have a place (nest) of my own felt threatened throughout the entire process - thus my anxiety level was at an all time high - which then triggered physical symptoms which then just made my anxiety go up even higher - a ridiculous and crazy making cycle! Ugh! But, I have confidence that things are going to get better now that we have a place to live - AND I got a part-time job at a local Used Book Store - one of my very favorite places to hang out at - which I will start next week! Yeah! I've also been filling in for someone at the Animal Shelter and so have been doing 2 different jobs there the last couple of months and it is taking up a HUGE chunk of my time. So . . . that is where I've been and what I've been doing lately!

Now, for my question: I am organizing, as well as purging my wardrobe. What kind/type of hangers do you all recommend for your clothes? I want to do this right and get some sense of control over my wardrobe. I think using uniform hangers is a good place to start! Thanks everyone!
