LOL Scarlet! I am addicted to Ritter Sport chocolate. Period. I usually order the white chocolate/yogurt varieties, but Target has a great selection, including the lovely Alpen Milch at a wonderfully low and tempting price. I don't eat the whole bar at one sitting, but Ritter Sport is truly WUNDERBAR!

Remember, only four of those little squares a time!

Don't get me started on the Katjes....

Barbara (NC), I hope you are reading because I have a bone to pick with you! On the last snack thread you mentioned Ritter Sport chocolate. I will confess I have held bad associations with it ever since an elderly gentlemen tried to ply my affections with it in introductory German class, but your enthusiasm encouraged me to give it a shot. And just when I was finally fitting in my pants again! Do you know they have many flavors? Well I am currently stuck on four or so that are my favorite, but try to do my part to try others as well. I am not, NOT trying those Katjes Yogurt Gummies! (I wonder if they have them in the supermarket.) Please! Give a girl a break! It's winter and I need my jeans!!

AJ, the Katjes Yogurt Gummies are nothing like gummy bears. They are not-so-sweet, soft and creamy. No artificial color or flavors. Yes, I will eat the entire 150 gram bag at one sitting:

http://www.germandeli.com/yoghurtgums.html

They are usually out of stock. *SIGH*

Oh this is not good a read when hungry,

I recently discovered Tunnock's Caramel Wafers which are made locally (5,000,000 made and sold every week). They are deliciously. For special occasions I love the chocolates from here

AJ, the red pepper gives the chocolate a bit of heat, but it's more like a mild warmth rather than a mouth on fire, if that makes sense.

Yay for the happy ending, Laura! I always reach for comfort foods and drinks in the winter--it just seems to help me make it through the cold and darkness :).

I'm a salty/savory snacker also. Lately I've been eating mini babybel cheese. It's so good and each one comes wrapped in its own little wax package. Their laughing cow cheese is really addictive too.

For Cheetos, definitely crunchy. They're probably the ones they overbaked or something, but I love that little crunch.

AJ, thank you for asking me about the brand, because I went onto Zingerman's website, and lo and behold, they have it back in stock!

http://www.zingermans.com/Prod.....ctID=P-CDC

I had it on backorder for a YEAR, I'm not even kidding! It is worth every penny - just heat milk and add chocolate and YUM. I am ordering 3 bags to get through winter.

Londonkiwi, thanks for the recipe. This summer, I actually bought a huge chunk of chocolate and tried to replicate it but now I see I was missing the cornstarch!

Another happy ending, courtesy of YLF

My nana told me that the Aussie Cadbury recipe is different to stop it melting so quickly in higher average temperatures. But that would have been back before refrigeration was common for non-essential items, so I don't know if it's still true.

I can't go past Green & Black's chocolate, or a glass of local riesling. Or Samboy's BBQ chips, or Burger Rings, or frozen grapes, or a chai latte.

Hmmm - this might explain a lot about my preference for banded tops lately!

@Laura - I know exactly what you mean - is especially good when you have a freshly made Churros to dip into it. You can make it yourself - http://spanishfood.about.com/o.....colate.htm

Cadburys is definitely different the world over - much like diet coke! Recently Kraft purchased Cadbury's and in New Zealand there were protests that they changed the recipe - which provoked this advert from a local brand of chocolate Whittaker's - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v.....&NR=1 .

Marley - I wish we had a Trader Joe's here. Those milk chocolate cookies sound yummy!!

Angie - Those Canadian giant Kit Kats...where can I get those here in the US? That would be a great stocking stuffer for hubby. I've never heard of wine gum before and when I looked it up, it seems similar to gummy bears or any of those other gummy candies. Is it? Luv Cheetos with BBQ brisket. (I don't like the orange fingers though.)

Alaskagirl - How are you enjoying your chip fix? I've been having an evening snack of those with half a golden delicious apple and hot lemon tea.

Katiepea - I've haven't seen Mint Slice but when the Girl Scouts are selling their cookies, I always have to buy the Thin Mints and Peanut Butter Patties.

Megan - Any cookie with chocolate is a winner with me.

londonkiwi - LUV your little rhyme! I'm not a gelato fan. However, I'm willing to go to Rome and take a taste test just to make sure. Care to make that happen? : )

Theresa - Oooh what a yummy way to take care of your low blood pressure.

Barbara(NC) - Yogurt gummies? I don't know...doesn't sound appealing to me, but then again I'm not a gummy fan.

Laura - What is the name of this Spanish drinking chocolate?

Jonesy - Is the chili pepper chocolate spicey hot?

Beth - I like Cool Ranch Doritos, but not what they do to my breath! : )

Tricia - Out of all the foods out there, Cheez-Its do you in? That makes me giggle!

Marlene - I may have to make you my candy smuggler supplier! Hee-hee!

I have to admit there is a definite difference between the Canadian Cadbury's and the American Cadbury's. America Cadbury's has a completely different taste and texture. When I go home I always "smuggle" a supply of the Cdn stuff back so I have a little stockpile here south of the border! Plus a few of the other Canadian staples: Oh Henry, Sweet Marie, Coffee Crisp, Smarties. Plus those Mac caramels, wine gums and that magical beverage called Five Alive. Oh yes indeed!

I'm not a big snack food eater and I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but I love salty things and cheese. The one snack food I have no control of myself over is Cheez-Its. Cannot be Nips...must be Cheez-Its. I don't let my husband buy them anymore because I can't be trusted.

People, please! Now I'm staaaarrrrving!

I heard recently that Hershey's makes the Cadbury's branded chocolates in the US, which explains a LOT.

I love British Cadbury's and they make my favorite drinking chocolate which fortunately can be found in the international aisle of our local grocery store.

As for other snacks, I love Kerrygold cheddar with a crisp Gala apple, Smartfood white cheddar cheese popcorn and Cool Ranch Doritos. Yum.

Angie, I've never been able to think of you eating Cheetos without a giggle.

Oh Laura, that is so sad! I hear the desperation! No advice, just commiseration.

I am addicted to Lindt dark chocolate with chili pepper bars. The combination of dark chocolate with chili pepper may sound strange, but let me tell you it is really marvelous and melt-in-your-mouth delicious! I have a major chocolate addiction, so I only eat chocolate after dinner (never during the daytime), but I almost always have a square or two of this chocolate bar in the evening--it is so yummy!

Speaking of chocolate, does anyone else here love Spanish drinking chocolate? I'm talking about the thick, dark chocolate drink, not Swiss Miss Instant Cocoa

The supplier of my chocolate drug of choice (Zingerman's deli in Ann Arbor, Mich.) can't get my favorite Spanish brand into the country any more and I literally do not know how I am going to survive winter! If anyone knows where to order it in the US, please please please let me know!

High five Taylor and Fi!

Barbara, yes! But the US version of the BIG kit kat is not so fab. It must be Canadian, South African or British. They make the *best* Cadburys chocolate. Better than the Australian Cadburys - sorry Auzzie YLF'ers :(. I take my Cadburys very seriously.

Angie, aren't those giant Kit Kats made by Cadbury? If so, that explains why I have to force myself to NOT eat the entire thing. The chocolate is SO creamy!

I was addicted to Katjes Yogurt Gummies (all natural fruit flavors) when I lived in Germany. Thank goodness I can order them from germandeli.com!

Oh Katipea - I love mint slices! There my favourite of all packaged biscuits (almost the only ones I do like)

Don't much like the normal TimTams but have enjoyed the whitechoc versions and plan to try the dark ones (because I like white and dark chocolate, but not milk)
