My tenure review is happening this year, which means that at the end of this school year I either get tenure (and have a job for life) or don't get tenure (and get fired).</p> <p>Today I found out the result of my department's vote on my tenure, and it was overwhelmingly positive! This is big news for me. </p> <p>The tenure decision still has to be reviewed by other committees in the university - the whole process won't be done until May - but the department vote is the biggest hurdle. Given that my department wants to tenure me, it's very very unlikely that the decision will be reversed higher up. </p>
