They are probably from the 40's and I think that is their original finish. We inherited them when she passed away, along with the matching bedside tables. I'm waiting for hubby to make them into a vanity. Right now they just have a board across them, but he is supposed to make a nice top (that we will just lay across, so there is no alteration to the original pieces). It's great for cleaning too, all you have to do is run a feather duster over everything. In the last photo, you can see the relationship between the two dressers. My next projects are to find two vintage hand mirrors to hang on either side of the oval frame, and maybe get a silhouette of my cat to go in the square frame. Then the dressers will be done!
