Wow, I'm impressed. That's one smart little iPhone! That hasn't happened to me, but we've had issues with moisture and my son's iPhone, another thing they don't like. Good to know.

Yes it is. I'm going to have to be careful not to forget it because it is hot here and is not going to get any better for a while.

Thanks for the warning, Deb. I'm going to make sure I forward this on to my daughter. Is it working okay for you now?

I haven't had it happen with my iPod Touch, but it certainly could (and it's nice that it has the warning feature). Electronics don't like temperature extremes at all.

Interesting! My fiance always says never to leave electronics outside in the cold during the winter (but Chicago winters are REALLY cold). I'll ask him about heat too.

No!! Wow...my coworker used to work at Apple and he said he hadn't heard of it, but that it makes sense. I googled it and it looks like this is indeed a feature built in and that others have experienced it.

Hasn't happened to me personally, but it is definitely a fact that electronics can be damaged by overheating in cars. Ironically, it even happens to things that belong in cars like GPS.

Apple is programmed to warn consumers which is nice, but Apple does have overheating issues with iPhone and iPad. I haven't had issues with mine so far, but I am super protective.

Apple issued an official statement on the overheating.

Yesterday it was 99 degrees here and I left my phone in the car accidentally. I almost dropped it when I picked it up it was so hot. There was also a warning on the screen saying that the phone was too hot and would not work until it cooled off. It took about 5-10 minutes.

Has this happened to anyone else.
