Elisabeth, please PM me the next time you're in town and I'll shoot you some recommendations. krishnidoux is still visiting us now, and there are some good hiking trails on the thread already (http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....eattle-now), but I'd be thrilled to unload non-hiking suggestions too.

Angie: I'd love to meet you one day, but this weekend it would not have been possible. We only had about 24 hours away. We came down on Saturday, shopped around for a bit, went for dinner, went to the concert, then met up with my cousin for brunch and a tour of the university on Sunday before heading back. I wouldn't like to ask my aging parents to look after our kids for much longer than that. :-)

Mo: Glad you like Seattle too! I can see why!

Charmain: thanks for the offer! It would be great to hear your recommendations. I've been to Seattle a number of times, and each time, it just keeps getting better. It's a lot like an American version of Vancouver (with, I daresay, better architecture).

Me three :).

I spent my entire life here, less 1 year in Beijing. Even having traveled quite a bit, I still can't think of a more perfect city than Seattle. Next time you're around, ping me for some recommendations: I love showing people why I adore this city.

Me too! Friends gave me a perplexed look when I said we were going on vacation to Seattle for my 40th birthday. Not Cabo, not Hawaii lol. The BF and I had a great time! And he made up for lost time shopping. He has a hard time finding nice men's clothing so Seattle Nordstrom and Mario's are heaven for him. Between all the good food and things to see and do, we had a full calendar the whole time. It helped that it was uncharacteristically sunny the whole week (last Mother's Day for those who remember).

Glad you loved Seattle and the show! It's an amazingly fun, cosmopolitan and edgy city.

You didn't want to meet up? I was downtown twice this weekend.

I was in Seattle this weekend and I kept an eye out for a stylish blond woman with a pixie cut, collared shirt, gold jewellery, bright coral pants and sensible heels, but alas, I didn't see her. ;-)

Seattle is a fantastic city, though! The university campus is gorgeous (I had no idea!), the food was excellent, the weather lovely, the streets clean, and the overall vibe was relaxed and cosmopolitan. And the show we went to see was one of the best I'd ever experienced.
