dianthus- great pic!

Claire- I hate cords, too, but I haven't figured out how to deal with them. I chose a wind up clock just so I wouldn't have to deal with a cord from it.

Khris, I love how you've accessorized your nightstand! And dianthus, yours is beautiful as well.

I'll take a pic later today, but our nightstands each have a lamp, one of our framed wedding photos, and a small stack of reading material. No clocks, as we both use our iPhones for that purpose. Our bedroom style, like the rest of our house, is contemporary with Asian touches, so we try to keep it clean and uncluttered.

Those are beautiful pictures! I hate clutter on my bedside table and have even dispensed with having a clock there becasue I hate dealing with cords. I went through a battery and wind-up clock phase, but right now I'm using my cell for an alarm. My landline is tucked underneath and behind the bed so you can't see it (that sounds a bit extreme, doesn't it?). My electric blanket control has to hide under the bed too. So right now I just have a lamp, large green leaf from a silk plant that I use as a coaster and a wedding pic of the hubster carrying me over the threshhold.

When I was sick last week, I had cough drops, ear plugs, an eye mask and tissues all over the place every morning when I woke up. I put them away every day even though I knew I'd have to "set up my station" again at night because it was depressing to look at all of the sick paraphanalia all day!

I redecorated my BR this year so do have a pic. I removed the mercury glass candle holder and moved the vase closer in from the side. I used the mirrored pic as a backdrop so count it as 1 item. The other side is the same but the curtain from the adjacent wall is within a foot or two of the table and it doesn't have the clock.

I don't own a bed-side table. I have a step-ladder!

The bottom step holds my iPad.

The top step holds my alarm clock and a lotion and a lip balm :p

That makes so much sense logically, Khris!
I must have the only night table in the world with no light source on it. I keep mine reasonably clutter free, unlike, well, other areas...but it features my old clock radio, a box of kleenex and a couple of different hand/foot lotions. Yours sounds much more attractive.

I've been watching a ton of home decoration TV shows lately (laid up with my back), and I had a big revelation about dressing a bedside table or nightstand. Mine used to have new lamps and nothing else. They looked bare, but I just figured that less would be more for that area. Then I heard one of the TV designers talking about dressing a bedside table for a guest room- it was either Emily Henderson (who I am *obsessed* with) or Genevieve Gorder. She was suggesting you have five things on the bedside table- a light source, water vessel for middle of the night thirstiness, a box or bowl to put jewelry in, a candle or flowers to smell nice, and a clock. I started playing around with my own bedside tables, and adding objects made it feel so homey and lived in- I was shocked! I added a bowl of flowers and a small mirrored box to my lamp and clock. I actually just ordered a vintage travel clock that will look better. My husband's side has a vintage frosted glass Tumble Up painted with a feather design, a metal ashtray that he made in school (which was never used as an ashtray, but will make a great base for a candle that we still have to find), and a quirky eyeglass holder that looks like an oversized Picasso nose with small moustache/lips (which I am thinking about spraying white) in addition to his alarm clock and lamp. The placement isn't perfect, but it still looks so much better. At some point, I am going to try and talk him into a better looking alarm clock, but I don't hold much hope. At least this way, the things help hide the ugly alarm clock. The vintage alarm clock that I bought it pictured in the last photo.
Anyone else want to share photos of how you've dressed your bedside tables?
