Apparently, the Parathyroid has nothing to do with the Thyroid- even though they sound similar. I did read that sometimes they do an intravenous dose of vitamins initially. I don't think my levels are that low, though.

Interesting about the Vitamin D levels v. the phosphorus (I assume that was the other one that was low?). But you never know. I have Graves disease and type 1 diabetes, both auto-immune at the root. While the diabetes was a sudden and fast onset, the thyroid issue was longer in surfacing. My thought is, one might have fits and starts of the thyroid working and not working, so variable results.

Also, vitamins by mouth never worked great for me, not to overcome the hump of the deficiency caused by everything and to get things back to a level playing field. I did a course of intravenous vitamins.

Sorry to hear that! Thyroid issues are so complex, and often doctors themselves aren't that knowledgeable in that respect. I'm glad your doctor is looking out for you.

The vitamin D deficiency doesn't have anything to do with sunlight. Your parathyroid regulates calcium and phosphate, and converts a chemical into vitamin D that helps you absorb calcium. He's thinking that I may have auto-immune hypoparathyroidism. Here's a short article about it if anyone is interested in reading it:

That's weird, especially since you already take vitamin D supplements. I hope they find out what's wrong and that it's an easy fix or treatment. Can you go out and get a little natural sunshine? Maybe the vitamin D made by your body will be superior to the supplements you're taking.

I had a follow up appointment with the endocrinologist today (this is the third one- so far all of my hormone levels have been normal). At my last visit, he said it might be my Parathyroid and sent me for more bloodwork. I got the results back today, and the doctor said I am weird LOL My vitamin D is low, which usually makes one other level high (can't remember what it was); but that level was also low for me. He said he hasn't seen these type of results in years. I already take Calcium with Vitamin D, so he said this may explain the strange results, but he wanted to re-do the same test to make sure it isn't a fluke. The low vitamin D explains the issues with my bones (and some of the pain), and taking more vitamin D will help the issues. I will get the other results back in three weeks, so we will see what he has to say then.
